Rare Kmkub Posted January 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2019 This is our second NCL cruise, 1st time on the Jade. We've sailed Princess during playoff games, but this is our first Superbowl at sea. Will we have options for viewing? IIRC, on Princess it was only on MUTS, but that was prime viewing. So excited to be at sea during Superbowl Sunday!!!
Paul Bogle Posted January 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2019 You will have many choices from the Atrium on. We were on a Super Bowl cruise a few years ago on sister ship Gem. We watched the game in the Great Outdoors on deck 12 aft. They had several tv's hanging from above so viewing wasn't a problem. The buffet offered lots of party snacks like wings, chips and salsa etc. It was fantastic. I suppose it helped that we were on a ten day itinerary and Super Sunday was a sea day in the Eastern Caribbean. The weather was perfect for alfresco. Since you will be leaving Harvest Caye on Feb.3rd it should be an option for you too.
Rare Kmkub Posted January 8, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Thank you, Paul! Sounds perfect. My Bears blew it, but my husband's team (Chiefs,) still have a shot. We'll be watching regardless. Sweet!
Paul Bogle Posted January 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2019 If you like to gamble the casino will probably sell squares. On our cruise I think they were $10 and went on sale early in the day. My brother-in-law hit the second quarter score and won around $900 IIRC. We like to cruise this time of year as a break from winter. We have sailed over Super Bowl six or seven times on NCL, Carnival and RCI. Most have been Sunday departures which can be fun but there is so much else going on. Three times we have enjoyed the game during the cruise and it has always been fun. Once our favorite team was in it but we lost. What better way to cushion the blow than being on a cruise? They will...have cruised during Wild Card weekend and Conference Championship before and there was no problem finding game in your room, casino, or bars. Depending on ship might have it on pool deck if it is a sea day.
chesswiththedevil Posted January 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2019 This whole thread is making me excited. I completely forgot, until now, that the superbowl is going on during our cruise and I also forgot that there will be a casino so I can play some squares! Rare Peachypooh Posted January 9, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 9, 2019 We watched it last year in the atrium on the Jade. It was very festive and they did a great job with special lighting. People went to various venues and brought back wings, etc. to eat during the game and of course a bar is right there.
chesswiththedevil Posted January 9, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 9, 2019 I asked my SO if we could cancel our bungalow excursion in Harvest Cay due to the Superbowl being on the same day and wanting to get a good seat at the outside venue and you can imagine how that conversation went, lol. I guess I might hoof it early back to the ship around 2pm(ish) to get our small group good seats? Does anyone know about how soon all the outside seats fill up for an event like that? I hate how excited I am for a football game that I have little to no emotional investment in but maybe it's because I get to celebrate the game in the warmth with an unlimited drink package and I don't have to work the next day.
