Yeah, I know.  Just thought it was pretty funny.  Kind of like when they released the new signs at the terminals early with the Emerald level.  Ooops.  😉

Diamond lounge is nice and up in the VC.  Reasonably sized with a large buffet area. Great views.  Not sure if the outside deck area is still open anymore though.  Some ships they closed that down.

My favorite Diamond lounge so far is the Independence.  Jennie was the concierge and she made the experience! The happy hour drinks, food, service and ambience were amazing.  The piano player came in and performed a couple of nights.

Have been on Freedom many times, and miss her still since she left us here in PC.  Will be back on for a B2B out of PR that we have booked, but not until January 2021.  

 

The DL on Freedom is one of the best in the fleet.  Love it for the extra space, full floor to ceiling windows, and an outside seating area.  We preferred the DL to the CL on Freedom (CL very small windowless enclosed room).  Now of course, with all the changes...who knows what they will do as they tear out the CLs on the ships and put in the SL later in the future.  Assuming the DL stays in the same location there on VCL deck.  

 

You will love it...enjoy!!  🙂

Thanks for the info. Sounds nice.  Looking forward to cruising on the Freedom.  We always have a good time no matter where we are or what we're doing.

Totally agree with you, although the last time we were on Freedom (January 2018) DL was so packed that it was difficult to get a seat some nights and they weren't using the VCL as overflow.  CL was just as bad.  We tried going at different times but it was always packed.  Maybe it was just a fluke on that sailing.

We had used the card rooms on the other side as overflow during one upper tier heavy cruise once.  Did not like the card rooms that much.  

 

We like to head into the DL or CL during "magic hour".  Which for us is around 15 minutes after start of first seating.  Have never had a problem finding a seat by then.  Already warmed up in fact.

That's usually our plan as well, to get there shortly after 1st dining sitting, but no luck on that cruise.  It seemed like people got there early and camped out for the duration of happy hour.  Heading out on Liberty in a couple weeks, hopefully we'll have better luck 😁

Since the Viking Crown is a “signature” lounge in advertisements, It should be open for everyone.  There are other places that can be used for the special lounges imo.

I agree, but it's not so signature anymore.  Newest class of ships has no Viking Crown.

Yes and also we're talking about overflow for a couple hours in the early evening when it's practically empty anyway.

Yikes...ran into that situation on Brilliance last year.  DL had the entire VCL as overflow, and still hard to find a seat (let alone try to get a drink).  But the CL across the hall was empty...go figure.

I've always liked the DL on Grandeur and Rhapsody. Fairly large for the size ship with a nice view astern. Add to that access to the large lounge outside for overflow.

Me too.  We used the DL on Rhapsody every night versus the CL.  Love that sweeping view, could always find a seat.  I am pretty sure they will continue with the overflow due to the small counter space in the tiny DL.  The temporary bar is set up in the overflow, they really needed the extra room out there for it.
