Great review so far!  We were on the same cruise.  In fact, we were two doors from you in the Aft Ext'd Balcony 6454.

On Princess Cay day, we were delayed leaving the port due to another medical emergency.  We've been told it was an 8 year old boy that had suffered an appendix issue.  Hopefully he and his family fared well.

This was the first time we've witnessed a helo evacuation, for the other medical issue on the cruise.  I can't commend the skills of these Coast Guard folks enough.  Great job!

The only trouble we had with the room was that we were located right above the comedy club.  While the sounds (voices and music) were clearly noticeable, it didn't prevent us from sleeping.  (We tend to sleep early and rise early these days.)

Didn't notice any kind of smoke issue on the Promenade nor in the casino.  Different strokes, I guess.

We had great weather (lower 80's each day) and just the little bit of rain on the sea day.

All in all, it was a great cruise.  My only wish to improve it would be to have a P/D party on the 4 day cruises.

Thanks for reading along!

We probably passed each other in the halls several times! 🙂

I agree with you about the skills of the Coast Guard - we were in awe and so thankful for their service!

In terms of the comedy club, I think it was the squeals of laughter that were the most notable in our cabin! Same as you though, it didn't prevent us from sleeping!

We did get gorgeous weather!

After the Coast Guard left, we decided to get ready for the day and venture out to brunch. I love the Sea Day brunch, although I'm not sure my skinny jeans think it's a good idea. :classic_biggrin:

I always get the same thing - flamin' tomato soup and huevos rancheros. I usually use my free drink coupon for a Bloody Mary during this time too! It was very slow in the dining room - probably because we were experiencing a lot of ship movement. That plus the Coast Guard fiasco really affected several people I believe that day!

Luckily I had taken a little vial of Motion-eeze for my friend, but I found myself having to use some as well!

Interestingly, our waiter also shared with us that he and the rest of the staff had been asked if they were Type A blood and willing to donate. Apparently the medical emergency earlier in the afternoon required a transfusion.

After brunch we found ourselves out on the Deck 3 Promenade, chatting and just watching the waves. By this time the weather had cleared up a bit...

We had such a lovely time chatting out on deck! It's so special traveling with a friend that you've known for 30+ years, and I'm so glad we had the opportunity to meet up and do this trip together!

As it is with cruising, an hour had passed since our last meal so we thought what could be better than afternoon tea?!

We headed up to the dining room, where they had about 10 - 12 tables set with tablecloths and teacups, ready for tea service. I always love this tradition on sea days!

The cart of sweets was wonderful as usual. I always love the chocolate fruit tart! We also had a few little cucumber and salmon sandwiches.

Here I am enjoying my Lipton!  :classic_blink:

Haha. At the risk of sounding like a snob, I am NOT a fan of Lipton tea and usually only drink Fortnum & Mason or Harney & Sons. However, I was too cheap to fork out the $1.95 for the specialty brand, so I made the best of it! I think I was extra conscious after my *cough* losses in the casino. :classic_biggrin:

My friend was still a bit queasy, so she got the peppermint tea ($1.95 upcharge) and really enjoyed it! Bonus, it totally settled her stomach too.

By this time the ship seemed to hit calmer waters, and almost felt like it had slowed down just a bit....After two days of medical emergencies, I know we did have some time to make up while at sea...

After tea time we headed back to our cabin for a bit, and decided to get packed up. Even though we were going to be carrying our luggage off the next morning, we thought it'd be best to do this now so we could just enjoy our coffee in the morning without feeling too hassled.

Once that was taken care of, we headed down to the Flowers Lounge in the atrium to listen to the violinists. They were performing a great set, and had quite the audience listening in!

After that we popped into some of the shops. Nothing really grabbed my attention, and so we made our way to dinner. We were immediately seated at a table for two and had a great meal. It's always sad when the performance begins and they sing, "you're leaving on a fun ship..."!  :classic_sad:

After dinner, we caught part of the show in the Venetian. The singers/costumes and the 80's performances were really attracting a crowd, and even the stairs and halls were full of people! Now I never go to these shows, but I think my friend was interested and there wasn't a whole lot else to do (I was trying to stay away from the slot machines!!!).

The laser lights in there were giving me a headache though! I could only sit through about 10 minutes before I had to leave. I'm going to be a hot mess when I'm 80 and cruising!

After the show we went to pop in and listen to the comedian for a bit. It was standing room only and absolutely packed! His humor wasn't really that palatable to me, so we left.

We again found ourselves in the atrium for the Mardi Gras party! I swear, this is never the sort of thing I go to on a cruise, but I was just so impressed with NoNo, the Cruise Director! Her energy is just amazing, and she brings so much joy to the room! The DJ was also great, and they really got the entire crowd involved! It was great fun, and everyone left with lots of beads around their neck!

We finished our evening by visiting the photo studio to look at some majorly cheesy pics we had posed for with conch shells. :classic_biggrin: They were truly hysterical, but at $22/each, I was ok to leave them behind.

We took a final walk around the Lido deck, saying goodbye to this pretty ship!!!

Enjoyed your review. We too were on this cruise in 7434. Apparently, there was another medical emergency as we arrived in port. There was an ambulance parked on the pier and an attendant was rolling a gurney onto the ship, Deck 0, forward.

We enjoyed this cruise as well as the 3 day that followed and the 4 day after that. (B2B2B)

The 3 day went to Nassau and the 4 day went to Nassau and Freeport.

Thanks for your great review. We just got off the 3 day Liberty, and had a blast.

My husband and I are in our early 60's and loved the two shows in the main theater (Flick and America Rocks). We enjoyed the Motown trivia time in Flowers lobby as well as the violin trio.

We ate in the MDR two of our three nights. By the third night, we were ready for a more relaxed dinner where we didn't have to wait on the waitstaff to bring us menus, bread, water, etc, so we ate at the buffet. Several of the entrees and appetizers on the buffet were the same as they were offering in the MDR. I sure did miss my chocolate melting cake, though!

Fortunately, the weather was wonderful our three days. We met lots of cruisers from up north (we live in Central FL). I know they were glad to have the warm weather and sunshine!

Agreed, not a fan of Lipton.  I think I would have had to bite the bullet and gotten something else.  We have yet to do tea time, maybe on our upcoming cruise.

You have to do it! It's so relaxing. Not many people go, and the treats are presented so well and delicious!

I wondered about that, since I saw an ambulance waiting on the pier while we were tying up that morning! How sad! I've never been on a cruise with so many medical emergencies!

I can't believe you did a B2B2B! How fun!! Did you keep the same cabin for all three journeys?

Yes, we had the same cabin, same Room Stewards and same Wait Staff.

We had a "Breakfast with the Captain" and he confirmed there was a medical emergency when we arrived in port. He did not elaborate. He also said there were 4 medical emergencies on this cruise, but again did not give any details which is understandable.

Wow! That's a lot of medical emergencies! It's amazing we made it back to port on time without issue! Hope everyone was ok in the end...

We are going on this itinerary in September, thanks for the detailed review! It's got me really excited about the trip!

Just wondering, did you ever feel unsafe in Nassau? There's the whole travel advisory thing that's been going on for a few years. Last time I was in Nassau was before all that in 2006, so just curious to see if things have gotten a lot worse since then?

Ok, I'll be honest in saying Nassau is definitely NOT one of my favorite ports.

I think the vibe there can be so different, depending on how many ships you have docked. The day we arrived we had FIVE! Ugh. So it was crazy crowded and chaotic. We did get off the beaten path a bit, and while I wasn't scared or anything, it's easy to get a pulse for the city and see that crime/theft is probably an issue.

Last time I was in Nassau we were traveling around on our own, and ended up spending a couple of hours on Cabbage Beach. A very aggressive man who was obviously high on something was trying to get us to a) book a parasailing trip or b) buy drugs from him. He wouldn't take no for an answer and got very agitated/angry. Honestly though, this could happen anywhere.

I often travel to places higher up on the advisory warning scale than the Bahamas without any issue, so for me, it wouldn't be a deterrent. I'd simply have a plan or an excursion booked. Or even a day pass at a resort, if you know you want a beach day. I wouldn't leave Nassau as a "wander around and explore day". Not necessarily due to the crime, but just the sheer numbers of people that may be there the same day you are!

Thanks for helping me reminisce about out cruise in Jan. We did the same itinerary and right after we heard there had been a fire at Princess Cay.  Did you see any evidence of it?  I am glad it was not too bad because this was a lovely place to have a beach day.. I prefer it much more than Nassau or Freeport. And welcome to Platinum, it does have some nice perks and we really enjoy being able to drop our carry on off in the room rather than carrying it around until 1:30. If you book a longer cruise you get a free cocktail party and it is all the drinks you can drink while you are there!

Hello! Thanks for reading along! I too had heard about the fire at Princess Cay, but didn't see any evidence of it whatsoever. I believe it was a generator and in the area hidden behind the wooden fence.

Thanks re Patinum status! I loved having our cabin available so early!!
