retdon Posted February 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2019 I have always had 2 egg crate mattress toppers put on my bed. Interested to know if HAL is still using them as some lines have stopped (hygienic reasons). I can not sleep on a rock hard bed. If you have one of your own, please tell me what is it and where did you get it. I bought a 3 inch memory foam topper and it did not work, too narrow and too heavy even with a carrying case. Rare *Miss G* Posted February 27, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) When in a single bed they put on the egg carton toppers. (October 2017, April & December 2018) When in a King bed they put on a memory foam topper. (March & September 2018). I mention the bed types because that seems to be the differentiator. Krazy Kruizers Posted February 27, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2019 In 2016 we tried to get egg crate topper for our king size bed in the PS -- they claimed that it was no longer available. We had always been able to ask for them and get them in previous years. We were on the Westerdam.

twodjs Posted February 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2019 Interesting, JRG, that you have that suggestion for a matress topper used occasionally, but wouldn't suggest the same for a regular matress that is certainly used every week.
Rare photomikey Posted February 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2019 The true irony is that there is at least the possibility that the topper would get washed once in a while, while the possibility the mattress would get washed is approximately 0%. Also, the last I checked, you put a clean sheet atop either the mattress or the topper.
JRG Posted February 28, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2019 (edited) On a more serious note....I actually agree with the OP . Laugh or not, this is a bonafide genuine concern. Maybe one of the CC cabin specialists has a good suggestion. My experience with this apparatus is from Healthcare industry and family care experience. I would not trust being handed one of these upon request from the cabin steward if hygiene was paramount. The pat suggestions are usually something like: 1) call HAL customer service 2) call HAL customer again, if necessary to see what they suggest. 3) call your PCC or TA p.s. look into air mattresses that are cheap and you can donate by leaving behind. UM-Fan Posted February 28, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2019 On our last two cruises, June of 18 and December of 17, I called and requested them for both staterooms and they said that they no longer offer those additional toppers. They indicated that since the new beds were so comfortable, they no longer needed to use the toppers. I do have a finicky back and do personally disagree that the new beds are comfortable!
