Sky or Sun with Premium Plus Drink Package?

Some people are saying $53 total, another says $35.80 a day. Which is it? If you have the open bar ....... how much is it to upgrade to premium on board? I would have a hard time believing you only pay the gratuities for the upgrade.

If you get the option for the PP as an upgrade you only pay the gratuities for the difference in price for regular "free bar" on a ship other than SUN/SKY and the price of the PP on a ships other than SUN/SKY.  So in our case the extra grats are $6.63 per day per person - which is $53.  In our price for the cruise on the Sun the open bar is included so the only upgrade is to the PP. There is no grats for the regular open bar as in is part of the cruise price.

Regardless we paid $53 for the upgrade... we did pay other gratuities for the room steward/waiters/etc. but that's not for the booze!

OK, gotcha! We chose friends and family sail free as the inside cabin perk so now I understand better. Thanks!

So you get "free booze" on the SUN/SKY because it's part of the price, not a "perk".

Have a wonderful time!

Just booked for Nov. 2019 of us have the plus as we got all the  free at sea perks. The other 2 have the regular package.

I'm not sure if we should upgrade or not for the other gals. We are all happy with the "free" selection of spirits, we are not that fancy..lol.

I'm not sure if buying some water for the room would be easier than upgrading the package.  We all usually carry our own cup so having ice water will suffice for the most part. I assume we can get that from the buffet or even bars.

As far as the coffee part goes. I'm not sure of the difference between all of that jazz. I'm not a big coffee drinker unless it's a iced/blended fancy flavored coffee.  Do they have a coffee shop on the ship that has such a thing? Which package do I need for that?  The other gals are coffee drinkers but are normally happy with whatever is on the buffet/dining rooms.

So I'm torn and confused about what's the best option.  It's been 3 years since my last and only NCL cruise.  So I have much to learn.

There is a Starbucks that will make those, but it is not included in any package, even the premium. You'll pay for each coffee there.

On the Sun (and I think Sky) there is no Starbucks, there is the Java Cafe... and I'm pretty sure your PP covers most(if not all) of what they offer.

For 2. Just booked a 5 day August Sun cruise...all 4 free at sea perks were offered, all were taken.  Upgrade to top shelf booze over the already included package was a minimal daily charge, and to me, the biggest no brainer in the history of earth.  Water, coffees etc...it looks like all the free at sea gratuities were $85.60, for drinks and dining...

All in balcony was just over $1700...2 cruise next applied...for $500 more off, booked yesterday. $1200 or so out the door...

I was just on the Sky, with the Premium package. There's a Starbucks, and is the only thing not covered.

Correct, they had a special going where they would take two cruise certs for any cruise I believe.  It also ended June 30th unless they extended it.

I used two on my Wife and I's cabin, and we had two more that my Son and his GF used on the same cruise.

Ohh, you're going to be on the Sun. I haven't been on the Sun, and the deck plans show the Cafe on the deck 5 Atrium.

The Sky came out of dry dock this year, and they added Starbucks on deck 6, starboard side, aft of the casino.

Just got off of the Sun yesterday, they also have a Starbucks now. And yes it is an up charge. Enjoy your trip!

Well Dang, I wonder what you can get at the Jave Cafe??? OMG maybe coffee! It truly  is not a place I would seek out so it's possible it was there last year since the Sun has just come out of drydock.

lol my bad! Now I definitely want to see what kind of specialty drinks I can get at Java Cafe..... (or Atrium Cafe) with the PP.
