Port Canaveral to Port of Miami

Is it logistically possible to make it from a cruise in Port Canaveral down to the Port of Miami on the same day for another cruise? Time wise it looks good but there are delays such as customs and rental car pickup that I am not sure about.

If you walk off the ship by 8am, I’m calculating that you’ll be checking in for your cruise in Miami at 1-2pm. That’s based on typical times for customs, shuttling to rental car office, renting a car, driving, returning the car, and shuttling to the port of Miami. That’s assuming that there are no delays or hiccups along the way.

Get off the ship as early as possible at Port Canaveral, grab a cab for the short trip to the rental car facility instead of fighting the masses for the free shuttle and hope traffic isn’t too bad. The ride under normal conditions is approximately four hours providing there are no major accidents on Interstate 95, bad weather, etc.
