srsh1 Posted April 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Travelling on Adventure in June and looking at the excursions. If we do the Acadia excursion with RCCL, is there time and opportunity to explore the Bar Harbor area on our own and enjoy lobster somewhere? mailmama Posted April 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2019 we used a company called At Your Service Taxi. We had a great 4 hour tour all over Acadia park area. Then we had plenty of time to walk around Bar Harbor before ship sailed. If your ship goes to Portland Maine, I'd suggest a lobster roll there instead of Bar Harbor. Much better and cheaper too! mets123 Posted April 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2019 What time does your tour start, how long is it, and what time does the ship leave? Only you know that.Bar Harbor is a tender port, so you will be dropped off by the tender area. There are restaurants and delis right there. Merion_Mom Posted April 18, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2019 There are quite a few tours that go to Acadia in the Cruise Planner. The length of the tour is in the description of each one.
Ashland Posted April 18, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Are you really sure you want to book with the cruise ship ??
jmb4534 Posted April 19, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2019 Take a look at Ollie's Trolley. We did a 4 hour tour with them last September and loved it! We're still laughing at some our driver, John's jokes. We had plenty of time to look around the harbor area before our tour, then after the tour we had a lobster lunch at Stedman's and took a walk all around the shoreline. torpeedo Posted April 19, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2019 (edited) We do it all the time. Take the earlier morning tour and make sure it goes to Cadillac Mountain. You're usually back by 11:30 ish and time for lunch and shopping. We've used the ship tour and also Ollies Trolley. I like the motor coaches better. More comfy and not problem if it rains. Either one is fine though. Lots of private options as well. Edited April 19, 2019 by torpeedo
