Best time to arrive to avoid lines

Recommended Posts

Sailing on the Harmony out of Port Canaveral. We will have two small kids so not interested in being there as soon as they start boarding. What is the best time to arrive to miss the main chunk of people and not have to wait to board? Basically check in and walk right on is what we prefer.

I would go to port  at 1pm.

Cabins should be opening, those already on board will be making a mad dash to them......  You can drop off your carryons  in your cabin........and go to the windjammer or any other venue to eat.....The tables will be plentiful.

Then if you think it is possible, your children can nap before the Muster drill.

Safe travels.

Harmony sets sail from Port Canaveral at 4:30 pm. Guests are advised to arrive no later than 3:00 pm. (90 minutes prior). Most will have checked in by 2-230. So if you're staying in a nearby hotel and can make it there quickly and without issue, I'd go for the 2-230 pm window.

However, given how the unexpected can happen with small kids, it might be best to plan on an earlier arrival, i.e. get in line at 12:45 pm, be on the ship by 1:00 or 1:15 pm and in your stateroom by 1:30 pm.

Have sailed many times out of PC.  We do a shuttle service, and usually get to the port just after 11 am.  We don't usually have to wait in line.  By the time we have checked in, even the Gold level members have boarded already.  Most times we never stop moving and are on the ship in about 15 minutes.

Only instance where we have had to wait (and there are many chairs available in the terminal once you check in) is when something delays boarding (late arrival, clean up issues, medical, etc.).

We have done quite a few cruises on both RCI & Carnival out of PC.  Usually get to the terminal around Noon and breeze right on through.  Especially now with all the online check-in, much faster then the past. :)

Thanks all!

We only live about 40 minutes from the port so we will be dropped off. Looks like 1-2pm is the consensus. This will be our first time with kids so we are trying to make it as stress free as possible.

OP should be aware that they don't want to check-in too late.  Some ships are leaving at 4:30pm now, and if Royal still wants guests checked-in 90 minutes prior, that would leave a short 1 hour window (2pm to 3pm) for check-in.
