flyingandcruising Posted August 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2019 We are going on a 12 day cruise with a 4 yr old and a 6 month old. Looking for packing advice in order to minimize the amount of suitcases. Any recommendations on keeping things to a minimum? we are on NCL, so they do not have self serve laundry. I know they have a special $20 laundry bag, but I believe that is closed to the end of the cruise. Thanks

INeedAMaiTai Posted August 23, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2019 Definitely more diapers than you need, but you can stuff those in everywhere. Kids will make messes, so extra pieces for them. But for yourself, look into a capsule wardrobe (there are a ton of options on Pinterest). Couple of day pieces, couple of evening pieces, one formal outfit. Don't bring a ton of shoes, that takes up a bunch of space. Also, if you tend to overpack (like me), I bring those duffle bags with wheels so I can shove the suitcases under the bed and then there is space in the closet/cabin. I also would suggest bringing a largish sheet/blanket to put on the floor for your baby to play; helped me feel better about the germs lurking around. In common areas, I would use the outside of my nursing cover so she could sit on the floor. If you have any more questions, or need some more advise, I'd be happy to tell you my suggestions. Feel free to dm me.
cb at sea Posted August 23, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2019 It's difficult to "pack light" with small kids, especially babies....you need to bring everything "baby related"...the ship doesn't sell any pediatric meds, or diapers, wipes, lotions, etc. Just realize you will need more suitcases....in a couple years, you can do the "pack light" thing!
