Seattlerk Posted September 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2019 We are planning a 14day Hong Kong to Singapore cruise on the Ovation. We are planning a special occasion and have been looking at the Owners Suites. I understand that there are 5 on the ship...all are different...and all are available. Big decision is getting suite 900 facing the bow or suite 742 amidships. Any observations/recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks much.. We were in 742 in January this year for the HK to Singapore sailing. We liked 742's position and we had been concerned we might be overlooked from the bridge on the balcony on 900. This maybe inaccurate as we never actually checked that out. Also we don't like interconnecting rooms and it adjoins 902, just one of our many quirks. DC Traveler244 Posted September 10, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We've occupied 800 on the Quest, which (like 900 on the Ovation) faces the bow and is directly under the bridge. The views were stunning, but the location means that you feel more motion. If motion is a concern, you probably be happier in 742.
alwaysonaship Posted September 10, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We have had front facing on other ships and the wind was bad from the movement of the ship that you couldn’t enjoy the balcony when sailing.
Covepointcruiser Posted September 10, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We have had the same experience with the owners suite. We had too much wind to enjoy the large veranda. It’s okay when you are docked as long as you are not in direct sun. Enjoyed the spa suite much more as we had a large veranda and we could actually use it. Will never book another forward facing suite even though they are classified as better suites.
Seattlerk Posted September 11, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted September 11, 2019 Thanks much for the insight. Your reports are what I expected but it is great to hear it first hand.
Seattlerk Posted October 16, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted October 16, 2019 One more question...What is the advantage of the amidships owners suite over the penthouse spa suite.
