New to NCL some questions

First time on NCL and hoping someone can help with a few questions. 

 

We are booked on the Jade and after completing checkin received an email suggesting we pre-book the shows and times. Previous cruises we just went to the show usually lots of seats. Experience of those traveling on NCL would be appreciated. 

 

We will be on the ship for Halloween. Anyone know if they celebrate.

There is no need to reserve seats for the shows.  That is required only on the larger newer ships.

 

Yes, there will probably something to celebrate Halloween-- Costume Party probably.

Just book it for when you think you might want to go. They won't throw you overboard if you don't show up but at least you have your reservation. Just show up another time if you can't make the one you reserved.

We did a TA on the Jade this spring and didn’t need to make reservations.  Always plenty of seating.  May have been because 14-day cruise - but every night was a different show.  There were three true production shows, but every show was decent.

We sailed the Jade in February - they didn't take reservations for the shows. We didn't have any problem getting seats. Granted, we were in Haven, but still, there was plenty of room.

Jewel-class ships' theaters (Jade is a Jewel class ship) can fit MANY more pax in the main theater than the newer B'Away/B'Away Plus class ships.  That's why you won't need show reservations on the Jade whereas you would if you were on any of the larger ships.  HINT: get there 15-20 minutes before the show starts to get the better seats. 

 

Also there are usually two show times; 7 & 9 PM) but sometimes (first night, for example) there may be only ONE show (usually at 730 PM).  The nights where there's only ONE show can be crowded so get there early if you want a decent seat.
