majortom10 Posted November 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Dont know current prices as its 2014 since we did Northern Lights cruise but the excursion prices are expensive even more so because it is Norway where everything is eye-wateringly expensive but a fantastic cruise especially if you do experience the Northern Lights. eddie11 Posted November 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Pop over to the Roll Call section and check if there’s a thread there from people departing shortly? They are likely to have their excursion booklet with 2019 prices
pete14 Posted November 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2019 There is a roll call for J918 leaving on Nov 26 but despite having about 14 pages, there are only a few posts about excursions mainly the possibility of arranging them privately. Each place has a scenic coach tour to look at the town and surrounding countryside views - approx £50, Andalsnes has a ride on the scenic Rauma railway with coach to return for £88. Tromso has various coach trips and visits to e.g Arctic Cathedral, Polaris exhibition, cable car and Huskie farm for between £50 and £65. RIB safari is £92. Around 5 hours chasing the Northern lights is £85 in Tromso and £99 in Narvik. Narvik also has train ride to Sweden on Ofoten railway (£85) and polar park visit (£86). There is also a cable car (£52). Stavanger has pulpit rock boat trip (£75), leisurely stroll around town (£40) and RIB ride to Lysefjord for £95. This is not a complete list but for Norway, prices are not too bad but remember in late October/early November it will be cold, icy and possibly snowy. Although not dark during the day, it will be gloomy with the potential for only 3-4 hours daylight in the North. I hope this helps.
eddie11 Posted November 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 1, 2019 I’d say those prices feel relatively low, when compared with summer fiord cruises. I may be misremembering though, it’s about 3 years since we did a summer trip Perhaps the lower visitor numbers mean they have to take care not to price out potential customers? majortom10 Posted November 1, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 1, 2019 All I can remember is we did the excursion In Search of the Northern Lights" on Oriana in 2014 and we did it from Alta and was about 4-5 hrs long and even then we paid well over £100pp.

Indeed, due to the Narvik one selling out, they have added a further trip including a night time trip on the Ofoten railway with a chance to see the Northern Lights if they appear. Hi Hansol, I don’t recall seeing you on our roll call for this cruise. Apologies if you are but if not, you may want to take a look at almost 400 posts. manonabike Posted November 3, 2019 #11 Share Posted November 3, 2019 When we went last November we just booked Husky Sledding privately and it was the most wonderful trip. All other ports we just researched ourselves and they were easy to navigate. Our trip to the Norwegian Museum was about a 30 min walk from the ship and just cost us the entry fee. We arrived before the tour coach and it was much cheaper.
