First time going to St Kitts and looking for suggestions. We enjoy nice beaches as well as seeing the local culture.

There'll be vans at the port offering seats for a circumnavigation of the island. All cheap, but avoid the cheapest cos that's a trunkated tour. Agree itinerary, time-scale and price (USD) before you board. Best would be a clockwise tour that includes a batik studio, follows the route of the  sugar train along the north coast, a stop at the black rocks and a beach stop / swim (so take your beach gear) before returning to the port.

 

The Sugar Train can only be booked through the ship - it's quite expensive & much of the day is in a van, but those who've done it say it was worth it for the atmosphere on the train.

Culture and nature are definitely the stars on St. Kitts. The beaches aren't as nice as some other islands, but we go for the amazing things it does have:  Brimstone Fortress (a world heritage site), the rain forest and island interior, the local food, and many more things you can find described on the St. Kitts board. We've always used Royston, which is a rather adventurous tour, a bit rough and tumble in an open van, no A/C. Many recommend Thenford Grey as well, and that is a more conventional experience.

I have been there several times.. suggest you use Rose and Jim Taxi service..they are very reasonable, locals for all their lives..I believe they will take you to where ever you want to go..
