Canuker Posted November 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2019 Here's a real example: Toronto - Northwest coast - Toronto. 1. Pick airport(s). Much cheaper, in this case to fly to Vancouver, rather than, say Seattle. Tick: save over $100 per person. 2.Best return airfare online: Air Transat (a smaller, charter airline, compared with the scheduled airlines) Tick: saved over $100 per person 2. Booked it as two one-way trips. Tick: saved another $30 per person 3. Booked it on the airline's UK website in UK pounds. Tick; cheaper still (in this case, no fx fees to pay: have UK pounds in UK bank a/c). (And, if you collect 'em, never forget about those flyer points that are sitting there doing nothing...) klfrodo Posted November 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2019 However... It is a charter. Therefore no codeshare, no reciprocity agreement to transfer tickets, missed flight or flight gets cancelled you are SOL until they decide to give you an available seat sometime in the future. But, you saved money.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted November 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2019 Keep on saving money like that and soon they will be paying you to fly on their airline. But hey...you saved money.
Zach1213 Posted November 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Air Transat isn't just a charter airline. They operate charters, but they have a significant scheduled operation as well...
