Recommended Posts

I can't believe the audasity of some people:mad: . I agree with all who have posted their thoughts on this subject;) . I will always give my coupons up for free, if I'm not going to use them. Just part of the pleasure of cruising and meeting all the great people here:D . My fellow cruisers are important to me and I would never ever pay for a coupon:D . Geeze, what's this world coming to:eek: !

We received a coupon from somone on CC and I did send a thank you note. After our cruise, I in turn offered one and sent it to someone in NJ and never heard a word. No thank you or anything. I at least feel the person could have acknowledged receiving it.

As far as coupons for Crown and Anchor members go, we leave unused ones in our safe. If the cabin steward chooses to throw them away, at least we thought we were leaving them for someone else.

I can't imagine how people will do anything for a buck. A while ago on Ebay, (because there was a post on it ) there were people selling the coke glasses that you got when purchasing a coke card. Some people are so cheap. I guess if you need money that badly, maybe another type vacation should be what you are doing. That's JMHO though.

If you knew someone who was planning to take a cruise after you (which you could learn from reading the roll call boards) could you just leave the coupons in an envelope with the person's name on it at the pursars desk? This would eliminate the chance of someone throwing them away when cleaning the room. Of course, it would take a little pretrip planning.

P.S. It is really nice of all of you to want to share. I like the idea that so many of you are willing to offer up coupons on this board or make the effort to leave them for others. It shows alot about the character of the people who cruise RC...and paints a better picture than what I am getting from some of the more negative posts on these boards!

I've seen posts in the past where people would leave items behind the TV for the next cruiser (if they should happen to look there). But I'm sure if it became too common a practice, the stewards would be instructed to check there as well.

It depends on what coupons you are talking about. If it is $50 for a Friend Coupon they need to be mailed to RCI prior to your cruise. If you are referring to the C&A coupons left in your statroom, perhaps you could do that.

I personally think selling any RCI coupons on eBay is just humerous, what some will do for a few bucks

We just booked on the 4-28-06 Brilliance.

If someone has an extra coupon we can use, I will send them the "friend" coupon we receive after our cruise, if they want it!

E-mail: mmhills @ yahoo.com for a mailing address

Thank you,

Micky and David

ditto for the coupon booklet...

Someone asked earlier & I have asked twice, with no answer. I guess no one here knows what you are talking about, just making up stuff about some goofy ficticious coupons.

Doug

Maybe if you'd asked a little more politely, you'd have gotten a better response.

But I'll answer you anyway. The coupon on E-bay is a $50 off coupon that can be used when you book a cruise. Other people are talking about Crown & Anchor coupons that repeat cruisers get when they get on board - they're for various things, like discounts on merchandise, casino credits and so on.

I hope that answers your (demanding) questions. :D

Suzy,

If you had seen my post, my question was "what are these coupons you are talking about", don't know how to get any more polite than that, maybe you should just chill out. I thought the purpose of these boards was to answer peoples questions, not criticize them for asking. If I think of any other questions................oh well.

Do you also consider this to be polite? I didn't criticize you for asking - I criticized you for getting obnoxious because no one responded to your question in the 2 hours after you first asked it. I don't think I'm the one who needs to chill out.

Suzy,

Thank you for answering my question, however, I asked politely (twice) and someone before me also asked, there were numerous posts after the first questions and all anyone would talk about was how bad it was for someone to try to sell the free coupons (I agree) but it would also have been pretty considerate if someone would have just responded to the questions instead of ignoring them just so they could flame someone (now me).

If you will go back and look at the earlier post, you will see that neither I or the other party was out of line with the question. Also if you will look at my post (that you quoted) I think you will see it was done in a joking manor, sorry you didn't take it that way, but at least it got an answer. Happy sailing.

I think this horse is about dead, sorry but it seems like the reason people use these boards is to find out information, and the logical thing to do is to ask questions about things you don't understand. I was under the impression that the links were information about how to get these coupons from e-bay, I didn't want anything from e-bay, I just wanted to know what you were talking about. Would you please tell me what is obnoxius about "what are these coupons you are talking about"?? I can see no reason to not respond to this question. Also the other person had the same question & something about "enquiring minds want to know" I didn't see any thing wrong with their question either. As I said earlier, sorry you misread my intentions about these coupons being ficticious.

Now, Doug, I am going to explain it to you very slowly and carefully. You want to know what these coupons are.

Did you read the posts on this thread? These coupons are explained in the posts.

Did you click on the links and read the coupons in the pictures in the linked sites? These coupons are explained by looking at the pictures.

Try being less churlish, whiney and dependent, and READ FOR YOURSELF WHAT IS RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE.

Doug

Go to the OPs posts (most of them) and you will be able to click on the links to the coupons they're writing about.

Since these coupons are given away free by RCCL to repeat customers, it is underhanded to re-sell them, I think unethical too. I don't know if it is illegal, it may be. But we've all seen weird stuff on Ebay and have heard of foolishly paying a lot of $$ for other things. Anyone remember the guy wearing a wedding gown to sell after the wedding was called off? He got way more than what it was, or ever will be, worth.

The grocery store I frequently use and have a club card for, sends me member coupons. Perhaps I can sell those on Ebay, too.

The sad thing is, some of these coupons have expiration dates, or may not be used as the purchaser thinks.

I wouldn't think badly of buying ANY coupons on eBay. I have literally saved HUNDREDS of dollars from coupons that I bought on eBay for very little. Just make sure you are buying them from someone with good feedback.

Example: I recently bought five 20% off coupons for Home Depot on eBay for $10.00. This past weekend we used two to order/purchase new kitchen cabinets and saved $800! Then, we used another one to buy a new wine refrigerator - and saved $160! And I still have two left!

By the way - as a eBay seller myself...I can tell you that the shipping/handling that is listed is usually more than the exact postage - this is to help pay the eBay and/or Paypal fees.

Why is everyone so upset about purchasing coupons? whats the big deal? When someone sells a coupon yea they benefit because they made a few buck, what about the people who SAVE because of those exact coupons.

What I noticed around here is that everyone just wants things for free.

I've cruised many times myself I have NEVER gotten anything in my room save from prior travellers. All those who think they are leaving there coupons behind for others to use I think the stateroom attendents throw they away. I think its better to sell it for a few buck for the sake of getting the coupon booklet to someone to actually use, than to leave it in the stateroom's safe and have it thrown out.
