Changing ships in Miami question

Help I'm trying to figure out how far it is from Empress of the Sea to Symphony of the Sea. We have done B2B on the same ship but never have switched ships. Can we wheel are luggage off and walk to next ship or do we need transportation? We leave on January 3rd.

Thank you

RCCL will provide transportation between the terminals (usually a bus). Check with your concierge or Guest Services during your sailing.

BUT......the last time we did this, last month going from Explorer to Oasis, it was a nightmare.  After confirming three times with the concierge, we arrived at the designated meeting place and no one showed. Outside the terminal no one could tell us where to find the bus. Just a horrible experience. Wish we had just taken a taxi.

We did this in September.

The night before disembarking the Empress we received a letter from Guest Services asking us to meet in the Schooner Bar at a certain time and RC shuttled us from one terminal to the other.

As stated above, it is slightly chaotic once you're outside the terminal building but the port staff were very helpful.

Another option if you're not in a hurry to board the Symphony...is the free Miami Trolley.

It goes around the Miami Cruise Terminal, with stops at nearby Terminal A and all the way to Terminal G.

Disclaimer: It will be a long ride on the trolley starting from Terminal G to get back to Terminal A.  After the last two stops to the right of and across the street from Terminal G, the trolley will go over the bridge and take you to downtown Miami before it turns around back to the cruise terminal.  The first stop of the it's loop is near Terminal A.  In addition, you will have to carry your luggage onto the trolley.

We've taken this free trolley on turnaround days to get to the nearby Bayside Marketplace...just over the bridge.

Another question.

We were on Symphony in November and I saw a transfer for people going to another RCCL or Celebrity ship. Has anyone had a transfer from Miami to Ft Lauderdale? We are doing a B2B on Symphony next month and once back going up to Ft Lauderdale for a B2B on Equinox leaving the same day we arrive back on Symphony.

Thanks and

Cheers!
