ParrotheadG Posted January 4, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2020 The day we will be in Barbados there are a total of 6 ships scheduled, almost 15,000 passengers!! It’s crazy since every other day in January there are no more than two ships. We were going to go to Harbor Lights, but will that be crazy busy?? What other affordable ideas for a busy port day? TIA! The easy answer is a day at Rico's on the Beach. Contact Rico by Email or Facebook. Book your visit in advance... No T'erds
JohninDC Posted January 5, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 5, 2020 I would also look at a day pass at the Hilton. Limited number of spots and the price will keep the crowds down.
ParrotheadG Posted January 6, 2020 Author #4 Share Posted January 6, 2020 Thanks for the suggestions, but we were looking for something a bit more affordable.

You're on vacation, and the suggestions are considered affordable. To assist CC posters, what do you consider affordable.

Just because you are on vacation, doesnt mean you throw value proposition out of the window without any consideration. With 15,000 people, the following is what I would do: a) Stay away from boatyard - unless yours is the first ship to disembark and you are one of the earlierst ones to disembark b) Harbor Lights should be fine unless you are going there way late in the morning. But any of these facilities other than Boatyard will charge you only based on what you use (with discount based on how many things you buy compared to Boatyard who will take your money, unable to deliver and refuse refund) At Harbor lights: Just use of beach - Free Chair & shared unbrella - USD 10 (BBD 20) Turttle/Snorkle tour with their equipment - USD 15 (BBD 30) Combo of the above two - USD 20 (BBD 40) Because of bad experience/time wasting at Boatyard, we reached Harbor Light late. So umbrell/chair was difficult but did get one. Not all in party went to snirkel and others just put their stuff with people who got chair/umbrella and enjoyed beautiful ocean (wonderful sand). With Harbor light model (and almost any other place other than Boatyard), you pay for what you use. Boatyard's unethical practice leaves you with bad taste in mouth. I just posted this earlier. Just came back from Barbados. We took the shared taxi to town...cost $2/person. Walked across the bridge, then a few more blocks to Pirate's Cove Beach...wow! simply beautiful.
hal2008 Posted January 15, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) From the respective websites it seems that: Harbor Lights takes reservations. Boatyard does not. (with 6 ships, it wil be a zoo any way) Pirate Cove does not seem to (but can contact them) Hilton of course but is expensive. Carlise Bay is one of the most beuitiful beach (nice soft sand even in shallows and clear calm waters) Edited January 15, 2020 by hal2008
