Woolies own brand is $8.40 for 24 600ml bottles. Woollies ran out of bottled water down here during the fires, supplied heaps to the fire fighters and town water was a bit dodgy, ok now. I can imagine! It's all very well for people to say "don't use bottled water, get a refillable bottle" but that's no use if there is no clean water available. In times like this bottled water is a necessity. The danger is if too many people stop buying it the supermarkets will stop stocking it so it won't be available for the next crisis. Just as those masks have been available despite the sudden emergency hazards, there is always industrial supply available of things like water as well. Retail sales don't affect other production, they're just another market. And in the meantime there's been a lot of pollution and waste when they're not needed. But without supplies in supermarkets towns that are cut off in emergency, with dodgy water supplies, are in big trouble. I'm not sure what the solution is. It wasn't something that I really thought about until I read NSWP's post. Water filters might help but not if the water supply is contaminated - I'm not sure how much filtration they do. It's an interesting conundrum.
Rare MicCanberra Posted January 21, 2020 #60 Share Posted January 21, 2020 Boiling water for 3 minutes will help cleanse the water of bacteria but of course you will need a power source to heat the water. If the gas and power is down, it makes it much harder.

The Australia Day festivities will be on at Corrigans Resort, Batehaven. A decent brekkie will be served by Rotary, Lions and the Firies. Not this big, but egg & bacon rolls.
