Question for Bonnie re: check in time

Bonnie, I have another question for you regarding the June 11 cruise on Journey departing Monte Carlo.

My invoice states that "Check in between 4:30 -8:30 PM".   Departure is at 10:00 PM.

Is check in really that late?   Someone on our roll call has said that check in will be much earlier - that one can board in time for lunch.    I am trying to find out which is correct.

Thanks once again for all your help.

That time window for check-in seems obviously wrong. Have you checked your Voyage Planner for what it says?

in the meantime I’ll ask for you as well.

I don't see anything in the Voyage Planner.   On the calendar, it just lists:

1  MONTECARLO, MONACO  11 Jun 2020

And there is no other information.   And not a clickable link.

There has been discussions about check in times before.  I think there is information on the tips for Azamara Newbies but I found the search function rather difficult.

I know that there will be a warm welcome from about 12 which is the earliest we have arrived.

Even with such a late departure?

Can you return to Monte Carlo  after boarding the ship?   Asking, because I am trying to plan for the day prior to embarkation and embarkation day.   We would like to see a few things in Monaco without our luggage.   So we can do this on embarkation day, or we can do it the previous day (we're staying in Nice), and do something else on embarkation day if check-in starts later.   (We'd leave our bags in the hotel and pick them up when we were ready to go to the ship.)   Don't really want to board early and then just stay onboard.

I believe all guests must be checked in and on board no later than 90 minutes before scheduled departure on embarkation day, so the latest I would suggest arriving at the port to check in and board is 2 hours before scheduled departure.

You can certainly get off the ship once you have checked in.  In fact the area around the Casino is very lively in the evening and if cars are your thing you will see a wonderful selection of all that is expensive.  Of course you must be back on board before the time shown on the notice  board as you get off.

Thanks for this.

Have been to the Casino on our previous trip.       Was planning to be onboard for dinner.   Just do not want to spend all afternoon onboard.    So just trying to figure out our plans for embarkation day.

No, our early embarkations have been for departures between 5 and 6.

Should be no problem leaving your luggage and embarking, then leaving the ship and doing some sight-seeing. You’d have to be back onboard at 8:30 at the latest. You should also be able to leave any hand luggage that you’re willing to leave for delivery outside your cabin later. There is usually an area onboard ship where you can hand it over for safe keeping.

More confused now.

I prefer to show up at the ship, check in and get on board once I am finished touring around.   So hopefully Bonnie gets an answer to this.

My current plan, based on this uncertainty, is to spend part of the day in Monaco the day prior to embarkation (easily done from Nice).  Then, on embarkation day, leave the bags at the hotel, visit Antibes, return to hotel to pick up bags and then transfer to the ship in late afternoon/prior to dinner.

We are embarking in Buenos Aires in a few weeks for a 5pm sailing time, and our check-in screen on the app suggests we arrive between 4 and 4:30.   I expect there are some glitches with the process, as that is far too late.   We will arrive shortly after noon and hope for the best.

Hmmm, let me see what I hear back from HQ.

Bonnie,

Did you ever hear anything more from HQ about this?   Our departure time from Monaco is 10 pm.

Thanks.
