Possible to email the on-board concierge in advance of trip?

Hi All,

I have tried reaching out to the pre-boarding concierge for my upcoming cruise on Joy but have been relatively unimpressed with that service.

I am sure its somewhere in this forum but I couldn't find it (or missed it).  Is it possible to email the on-board concierges for direct requests rather than waiting until boarding?

This is for Haven.

Thanks,

J.

No. It is not possible to email the on-board concierge.

We find the pre-concierge relatively useless and don't bother with them. The pre-concierge is basically a call center desk set up for Haven guests. They are not true concierge. They can only do what you can do. If you can't get a dinner reservation, the pre-concierge can't get a reservation.

The onboard concierge has the ability to oversell a restaurant and get you a table. But, once onboard, if a restaurant is totally sold out, even the concierge can't get you a table.

We prefer to build a rapport with the onboard concierge and butler that will be working to make our vacation memorable. The pre-concierge can help you select between decaf or regular coffee. And that usually is not communicated to the onboard staff.

The pre-cruise concierge email is:   NorwegianConciergeDesk@NCL.com

This is not the onboard concierge but the call center that handles requests for haven suites.  You can email them your requests and they will pass it along for your cruise.  Everyone including me has had mixed results using them.  I emailed them several weeks ago about my upcoming cruise and am curious how it will turn out.  In the past I've had mixed results.  But no worries.  Everything can be handled immediately while on board.

After checking in (registration) meet with your Concierge & Butler and give them your list of requested

times and reservations and any changes to already booked confirmed events.

Have Family friends other guests in your party get their plans finalized to make this work with yours.

Don't delay give them time to go to work for you before something is sold out - first come first serve.

The C may have an office or desk in the Haven (ship within a ship) to assist as things develop.

The Butler may also help as directed by the C.

Between the Butler and cabin attendant details about the cabin needs can be taken care of without

regard to timely dining show reservation priority excursions etc. Those darn pillows for the pillow fight !

Clear the caffeinated coffee before there is a rebellion - have soothing tea available to calm the storm.

Not to contradict the previous answers, but yes it is possible to directly email the on-board concierge.  However, you must have their email address.  We have managed to attain that address for several ships.  Having said that, we never use/abuse that privilege by bothering them over trivial things.  We usually use it to thank them or to say hello/goodbye.

So, is the ability to book dining reservations, etc., as soon as boarding only available to Haven guests, or is it also available for suite guests?  We have a Penthouse suite with large balcony booked.

Haven or suite makes no difference* - the Concierge will take care of your requests - - -

* priority to Haven guests is expected - attention to higher paid guests - - -

On embarkation day - some ships the Dining Reservation desk is at a alternative location with staffing to

take on all comers for booking - what percentage of the times the 'C' has reserved is unknown

If you plan to board late realize that other guests be they in a suite or other class cabin will have an

opportunity to book the remaining dining show times etc. - first come first serve - the 'C' can do so much.

After leaving registration check-in meet the 'C' -  Butler and staff for your onboard escort - at that

time note and give your requests agenda reservations for booking. If you have already booked something

that needs to be changed or other family friends included note that also. With that the 'C' will go to work

on booking your agenda and get back to you with a print out of your confirmed times.

This is a common misconception when NCL came out with the 'Haven' designation a few years ago.  Being in the Haven or a Full Suite is basically the same.  The only difference on some ships is you might not be able to go into the actual haven area or restaurant.  The vast majority of other benefits and perks apply to both Haven guests and Suite guests.
