notmyrealnameoremail Posted October 6, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2020 Good evening. We got the wi-fi perk for our upcoming cruise. We are thinking of upgrading it and wanted to get opinions on how much difference there is for the two options. Also, which type do you get with the perk if we decide not to upgrade? Thanks. Tom The free perk is limited at 250 minutes or 1000mb per cabin. You can upgrade to Unlimited minutes/mb, but no streaming support. Or you can upgrade big and get Unlimited minutes/mb plus support for video streaming. I believe all packages are intended for one person at a time usage. You can use different devices, but only one at a time. Unless you buy multiple packages. Edited October 6, 2020 by MeHeartCruising

Tom Tom The “difference” is that the streaming service opens streaming ports to include Wi-Fi calling. The speed is the same. It is satellite internet with a pipe shared by all of the passengers and ship’s operations. It’s fine for email. That’s about it.

Oh, so no wifi calling without the premium streaming service, that's a big deal for us.

Yes, we learned that shortly before our last cruise. A definite bummer. Also, re the “free” minutes-based perk, please keep in mind that shipboard internet can be so slow that it will eat up your minutes much more quickly than you might be expecting. Goid luck with whatever you choose.
