Water Shuttle for Aghero

We have booked a cruise and the itinerary mentions there is a need for a water shuttle for Aghero.  Can anyone please tell me what this is please and if there is a charge for it?  It seemed very confusing, but then I started thinking it may be an American term for a ship's tender.  We have cruise extensively, but the only American line we have previously used is Azamara and I do not think we have had a tender port with them.

Guessing that part of the reason for the change is that in some ports Princess is required to use local water shuttles - an example that comes to mind is Santorini.  Still free for the passengers, but part of the port contract.

No charge for tender/water shuttle. If you are on an organized Princess shore excursion you will meet at the location and time noted on your tour ticket and will be escorted to the tender. If you are going ashore on your own you will have to arrive at the tender ticket location well before hand to wait for space on the tender.

Thank you all for the replies.  I did try to search this forum, but all I got was lots of posts with the word water in them.  We have used water taxis from the cruise pier to the port town/city in other places, so thought it may possibly be something like that.  We have been to Sardinia previously, but on reflection it was Propriano that we docked at and on a small ship at the time.

Thanks again.

We are also booked for this cruise, Sky Princess is a very large ship, so will presumably take a while with the tenders. What did you think of Sardinia, it was the principal reason I was interested in the cruise, never having been?

Oops got it wrong, just checked on Google Earth, we docked in Propriano which is on Corsica, not Sardinia.   Nice little seaside town/village, but of course French.

I have just looked at the port in Sardinia on Google Earth and looks like quite a big city, but has a pretty interesting looking old town quite near the port.  Regards tenders, we would normally go our own way in most ports, and tend to leave the ship late and return late in the day, so not usually a problem once we are ready to leave (late morning).  I thought a larger ship would drop more tenders to use, but we have not done big ships, so we could be in for a shock in many ways.

I suppose a big problem is whether we will be able to go ashore independently.  If have to do an excursion we would prefer it was an afternoon one, but looking at our booking (when I registered and logged into the Princess website), there did not seem to be any afternoon excursions for the ports I looked at and some of them were leaving as early as 7.30am, which would be a considerable shock to my system as I am not a morning person.  Did not look at all ports though and would likely not book any excursions for this cruise unless we have to do so and then may stay on the ship at a couple of ports.

Just have to wait and see what the situation looks like when balance payment is due in July.
