Enchantment of the Seas

Recommended Posts

If anyone has cruised recently on the Enchantment of the Seas (since the refurbishment in 2005)....please give me opinions.....we are considering this ship and wondered what others thought of it.

We sailed on Enchantment last September, after it had been stretched, and were very impressed. They added a very attractive Boleros lounge, a Chops restaurant, and a wonderful concierge lounge with floor to ceiliing windows. The new pool area is fantastic and the Oasis bar is a great gathering spot that extends out over the water. Didn't try the bungee trampolines but I know someone who did and was enthusiastic about them as well.

was on the EOS in January and it is BEAUTIFUL!! we spent a lot of time in the solarium and the pool deck at night is so lovely. boleros was fun, but kind of loud at night--not good for chatting. i liked hanging out in the schooner bar. not too crowded, we sat at the bar. sabrina was a great bartender. casino was much larger than i expected.

i would go on this ship again tomorrow if i could.

We have sailed on the Enchantment both at the original size and since it's been stretched. They did a great job with it. We took a seven day New England cruise last fall. We enjoyed it so much that we would consider another cruise on Enchantment, but since we have to come all the way from California, it would have to be another seven day to make it worth while for us.

Hi Susan,

I am getting excited...have you booked any excursions yet? I spent a lot of time yesterday looking but was frankly a bit disappointed with availability for our time line and very disappointed to find we will be in Lisbon on a Sunday!

Final payment due tomorrow. We are getting the best air from the cruise line and I am very happy about that.

While I would prefer to sail a Radiance class or Voyager class ship, Enchantment post stretch is easily the favorite of the 3 Vision class ships we've sailed. I wish they would stretch ALL of the Vision class ships.

I have several pictures of the new improved Enchantment at my photo's link for that cruise in my signature below.

How do you know where the "new section" is??
Ok, listen carefully. Go to the deck plans for the Enchantment. Look at Deck Nine. See the "Island Bar" on the port side? (it's actually called the Oasis Bar  ) See the little corner lines to the left and right of the Bar? That basically defines the new section. Take your fingers/thumb and gauge the distance from the stairs and elevator on the Deck Plans to the new section. Now use your fingers/thumb on any deck whose cabins you are considering. That's the new section on THAT deck.

Clear as mud? ;)

It's directly under the arched walkways on the top. Everything below that is the new part. If you study the deckplans before you go, you can tell easily where the addition is when you're on board. The ship is beautiful and I would highly recommend it. :D

To TNgirl1979,

Do not book cabin 4545, it is directly under the women's restroom in the casino. We could hear high heals on the floor into the early morning hours each night. Learned to sleep through the noise but could have done without it.

I have a question about the solarium pool. All the pictures I've seen so far show mostly shaded areas, and the retractable ceiling covering the pool area. How often was the ceiling left open ? I love the quiet of the solarium pool areas, but I also love the sun ( I know, bad for my skin, but after a N.E. winter I need to be in the warm sun ;) )

The 4-day cruise I was on, they didn't open it at all. The day at sea I could understand why because the temperature was in the 60's and very windy (We had sweatshirts on in the morning) but the whole day at Key West it was in the 70's and sunny with very little wind. Cozumel was a nice day too. I'm not sure why they didn't open it up.

....and it is a beautiful ship. They did a great job refurbishing it and it really does not look like a 9 year old ship now. We had a bit of a problem finding our way around though. We are Radiance class cruisers for the most part, and I missed having the Centrum bump to navigate by. The halls are very long on the Enchantment and the ship is laid out differently than the Radiance class, so we never seemed to get to the right elevator and got lost a lot. We also did not spend the extra $$ for a balcony this time, so we ended up in a category G on deck 3, outside. This was a tiny room with barely room to walk between the bed and wall, and GASP! no fridge!! We managed, although we got quite claustrophic at times. Lesson learned.

The other thing we noticed was that there was no hand sanitizers near any of the public eating areas, we didn't see the normal crew wiping down railings and such as we have in the past, the floor in the Windjammer was almost always sticky and someone had thrown up between the pool bar and the entrance into the Windjammer and the smell lingered for three days. Not pleasant, and not what we have come to expect from RCCL.

Aside from that, the ship was very nice, food was good to great (don't miss Chops, whatever you do!), entertainment was very good, especially Norman in the Schooner Bar and the pool band. Matt Sole was the cruise director and he kept things lively. Quest was a total hoot! Our waiter, Mihai, at second seatng was wonderful as was Oswald, our room steward. Embarking was easy, disembarking took awhile. Itinerary, we wouldn't do again, but being able to get out of Philly for a week in February and totally avoid an 18 inch blizzard was way more fun!! :p

They said the ship was booked solid for this coming week with over 500 kids on board! They will all have a great time!
