Does anyone have any suggestions for a good authentic Mexican restaurant in Cozumel?

Pancho's Backyard is excellent. Great Margaritas ! We also tried some tamales there that were very good and differnt grom what we had ever had here in South Texas.

We have also enjoyed light meals/snacks at the small cafe above the Museum there in Cozumel. It is sort of an outdoor snackbar.

Great view .Neat /different place. Just go in the Museum and up to the 2 or 3 floor.

Senor Iguana on the north side of the island! Good food cheap great margaritas and big, and a beach to lounge on!

Everytime we go to Cozemel we eat at Pancho's Back Yard. The food is excellent and the marimba entertainment is just as good. In fact, we spennd most of our time there just enjoying the ambiance.

pancho's backyard, great food. we probably have been there as many times as we have cruised. a tip about paying your tab. use a credit card to pay your meal tab, food and drink, and leave a cash tip. your credit card company will give you the best exchange rate. if you put your tip on the cc, the restaurant docks the server the difference of the exchange rate.

 

have never had a bad meal at pancho's and as others have said, the margaritas are the best.

Can I walk there from where the tenders let us off? If so, please give directions. If not, Can a cab bring us there? How much does a cab cost?

La Choza. Fabulous fajitas, strong margaritas, authentic. Its where the locals eat and its fabulous!! A few blocks straight back from the square and over to your right one block. ask any local, you'll thank me.

Coconuts gets our vote. The view from the restaurant is wonderful and the food is awesome. Being from Texas it is hard for me to be impressed by Mexican food, but I will return there on our cruise next year.

we love Coconuts and Mexacalitos on the wild side too, but I thought the OP wanted "in town" restaraunts. Mexacalitos has the BEST grilled shrimp and the fun "naked beach" sign to pose in back of.

yes you can walk. when they drop you from the tender, cross the main road and go left. it is in the same complex as the Los Cinco Soles. waterfront at 8th street. phone 987 872-2141. www.panchosbackyard.com

Tawcat. I've spent quite a bit of time in Mexico and the average exchange rate is 10:1. I've seen it 9.5:1 and occaisionally seen 11.3:1 but not often. We're talking a very few pennies difference.
