How obstructed?

Going on the Oddesey of the seas in February and wanted to know if anyone knew how obstructed cabin 6656 was. Would like to change now if it’s really bad. Thank you so much if you can help!

We sailed in 6654 on Anthem, but comparing deck plans, I think it is the same as 6656 on Oddesey.  The big question is how large the lifeboat is.  If it is the same size on Anthem, you should be ok.

 

You can see the three different sizes of boats - 6654 on Anthem is to the front of the middle boat #11.

 

Here is the view from the cabin:

 

If they replaced that #11 with a larger life boat like #13, then it could be obstructed.

But the wide balcony and the layout of the room are amazing.

I could love that but I see those big white poles nearby and praying our room isn’t in front of those. Cruise line can’t give me an answer so hoping my cruisecritic friends can help. Thank you for your reply!

They’re the lifeboat davits and can cause more obstruction than the lifeboats themselves

Yea, you will need better outside pics of the ship.  I did tons of research before booking that cabin but we loved it.  Can't see directly down but it's nowhere near obstructed as the cabins further aft.

Those cabins don’t have a sofa right? Did you miss having one?

Correct, just the chair.  Behind the curtain was an oval shaped window.  You can see that part better from the outside pic - the oval window then the three panel sliding door.

 

We didn't miss the sofa.  There was another small chair or stool at the desk but we aren't ones to hang out in the cabin that often.  If we needed to sit, we could just use the bed to put on shoes.

See if there is an obstructive balcony on deck 7.  Mine was on 6 as well, but after watching Chris Wong Blog, I decided to watch for one to open on deck 7.  I was able to move up at no cost.

If you are in 6656 you should be fine - no big white davits will be in your way.   You will simply see the top of a small lifeboat that will prevent you from looking directly down to see the ocean but will not obstruct your view looking forward.

 

Here is a layout of the some obstructed cabins on Odyssey.      Cabin 6654 and 6660 that have light green shading will have the large white davits blocking their view.     

 

You should like having the wider cabin with wider balcony and the xtra window next to the balcony door is nice too!

I have this exact cabin booked for my Nov 22 Odyssey. I chose it because even though its obstructed, its a nice size balcony.
