COVID PCR Testing in Honolulu

I've got a trip to HNL in December. I'll report my experiences when I get back.

I'm planning to take a bus to HNL airport from Honolulu downtown. There's supposed to be a public facility in the baggage claim area. Then, take a taxi back to Waikiki.

"Testing takes place at the following location:

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport: Testing is located in the Diamond Head Tour Group Area just past Baggage Claim 31. No appointment required - 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday - Sunday. Open on all Holidays."

Has anyone used the covid test facility at the airport? Does it do PCR? What's the actual turnaround time for the results?

Thanks.

If anyone has any information on where to get pre-travel COVID PCR tests done in Honolulu within a 72 hour pre-flight window I would greatly appreciate it if you would post it.  Many thanks!

Hi,

Just got a reply from the Kidney Foundation that runs the test center at HNL...

"Yes, the testing site is located at the airport, ground level, outside of baggage claim 31.

You will need to register an account and pay the $140 online before going in.
No appointment necessary-- just walk in.
Results will be ready the same day that the test is taken.

It is what it is for international travelers.

There's free testing for local residents. But, I don't know of any facility that offers free PCR testing to asymptomatic people.

You should also check out Walgreens in Honolulu as most of them in the US are offering complimentary PCR testing even to Canadians. It would be worthwhile to check.

When we were there in May, we needed a test to fly from Honolulu to Kauai.  Cost was $125pp for the PCR test.  Tested in the morning and got results the following day in the afternoon.

We got our initial tests at Walgreens in the states to fly to Honolulu, but Walgreens wasn't available in Honolulu.
