Obstructed Balcony

 Share

Recommended Posts

It all depends on the cabin and ship you are on.  Sometimes it's the smallest obstruction like a pole, etc,   sometimes there isn't an obstruction at all, and sometimes the lifeboat is your obstruction.  What ship are you looking at to book?  You'll find the great people on CC can help you with your question.  If you are using a Travel Agent, they also can guide you.  Good luck, and enjoy your cruise!

Bummer!

Some cabins are more obstructed than others.  On some balconies, the lifeboat top is about even with the balcony, so it obstructs your view when you are sitting, but when you are standing at the rail, it does not.  The davits are always in your way.  But you can look around them.  😉

Here is a chart of obstructions on odyssey

the red marking means the lifeboat will be there, the yellow marking means the davits that raise and lower the lifeboats will be partially in the way.

There are some cabins that only have 50% blockage - such as cabin 6654 you will only see the very top of the lifeboat but still have a view if looking out at sea.   Just cannot see straight down if you go up to your balcony railing.

You can view some photos here on this click for Anthem of the seas as Odyssey has the same footprint as Odyssey

We booked an obstructed balcony on Serenade of the Seas.  Checked it out first for worse case scenario and see that if you get Deck 7 in most cases you can see straight out, but not looking down to the sea if standing due to cover over lifeboats.  Any other instances that you may know of?
