Was at Freeport.....

My advice.  Stay on the ship or perhaps take a ship tour based on what floats your boat.

We took a $12 RT taxi from the pier to the Lucaya shopping area.....It was a Sunday...Most shops were closed but looked like lots of shops were closed for good (not sure, but based on what we saw).  Got beers (2 for $5).  We walked to a nearby public beach and it was next to abandoned hotels. Beach was pitiful.  Trash and an old picnic table.  Not much of a beach, really.

There was a similar shopping area next to the pier.  Not much to it either.

Freeport is hurting.  Very sad considering what it was like 30 years ago (our last time there).   Not sure what is going on but the empty hotels were not a good sign.

If we had to do it all over again, we would have stayed on the ship.
