What to do post-cruise in Fort Lauderdale before afternoon flight

We have a 1:30 PM flight out of Fort Lauderdale which means we'll have several hours with nothing to do after our cruise docks at 7AM.   We wondered if there were any suggestions for places to hang out and grab an early lunch before heading to the airport.  We'll have our luggage with us, of course.

Head to the airport and pay to store your bags, then Uber or Lyft somewhere for a boozy brunch.

See if your cruise line has a luggage program that takes your luggage to the airport....you don't see it until your home airport. That will take care of that complexity.

Check with your cruiseline and see about post cruise tours.  They take you to a "place" for awhile and then to the airport (with your luggage).  One of the places I know of is an Everglades park, another the local large mall.

 

Also, IMO a 1:30 PM flight is not all that late for Fort Lauderdale, especially on the weekends during the peak season.  The airport gets VERY busy with long lines at times for baggage checkin and security.  This is one place I would get to the airport early.  Also, you can take your time leaving the ship and enjoy the calm of a nice breakfast and not having to deal with the crowds, who all seem to want to be the first ones off.  We did this in Dec. and left the ship around 8:30 AM and for once enjoyed the experience.

We did an RCCL post cruise excursion that included an airboat ride that was a lot of fun. I don’t believe though that it would have fit into the 1:30 flight time though.

You need to be at the airport at 11:30AM for a 1:30 flight.  The airport is packed all of the time any longer.

 

I'd head to Las Olas for an early brunch.  Many places open Saturday and Sunday at 10AM for brunch.
