Is there anything to see / do at Port Canaveral Florida

Port Canaveral is one of our Ports on an upcoming cruise, and we were wondering if anybody can give us a heads up on whether or not the Port is walkable, I have heard it is mostly industrial / commercial with not a thing to do or see. If that is the case, we will just stay onboard the ship and enjoy, while others go on excursions.

If you are lucky from your balcony or from an outside public area, you may be able to watch the bomb dogs checking the provisions before they get loaded on the ship.  Even that's hit and miss now since they covered part of the area they used for that.  Other than that there is nothing to do there.

Kennedy Space Center is very close and there’s a good bit to do there. Jetty Park is at the end of the port and is a fantastic beach. Clean, quiet, and you may be able to get a day pass to the Ron Jon hotel pool there if you contact them. There are a handful of old Florida-style seafood bars a long walk from the port (not that long, really; Rusty’s and Fishlips are fun places). Get an Uber down to Ron Jon’s. Bikini selection isn’t great, but souvenir shirts, mugs, etc. are abundant. Walk over to Cocoa Beach Surf Shop for more of that, but for a more mature person.  There’s a great pizza place across the street called A NY Pizza House. It’s actually good. Go check out Sand Bar at Shepard Park for great drinks and “interesting”people watching. And they make great fish tacos. The cocoa beach pier is meh.

It depends on which terminal your ship docks at in Port Canaveral.  Anthem of the Seas often docks at Terminal 1 on port calls, which is right next to Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar.  There are several good restaurants right there, as well as a marina with fishing boats, etc.  The below website is slightly out of date because it still lists Junkanoo (a restaurant that has been closed since 2020).  If you dock at any of the other terminals, you would need to take a taxi, Uber or Lyft to get to the "good" side of the port.
