Adventure Aft Questions

Just returned Monday from Adventure in 9690.  It was our first time in the corner, aft balcony. First, there is no cover at all.  There is a steel brace that one could bump one’s head on if tall enough.  Second, it seems a little smaller but full disclosure we never book balconies and only booked this one because it was cheap and we got it during double points.  Third, when we left Cozumel it was pouring rain and we had 25-30 MPH head winds.  It was a very rough ride until about 4AM when things calmed down.  We’ve been in back and front cabins on several cruises and it’s very much different than the middle of the ship.  If you’re sensitive to movement you should pass.  The room itself was fine.  The beds suck, at least to us, but we take blow up cushions no matter the room or even cruise line.  The room steward, Alex, was very attentive and the cabin was always clean and neat when we returned.

Thank you!!

But they do cost the same as the third adult, unless it's a KSF

Yes - even a toddler is the same as pax 3 or 4 adult fare.  The real reason they want to know the ages of children sailing is to be sure the right number of child size life jackets are available at the muster station/life boat/cabin for family bookings.

I believe it's assumed that children over 12 will be fine with adult size life jackets. But the fare is the fare regardless of the age of the passenger.  It's interesting that any 3rd or 4th or 5th pax will qualify for KSF, even if adults.  We lucked out with that once in a family suite!

That may have been a different promo or a pricing glitch - the KSF usually cuts off at 12 years old.

We've cruised with our kids many times and NEVER have they paid the same fare are the first two adults in the cabin.

Wish pricing now had been that way 25-30 yrs ago, at time Royal wasn't much of a Family Cruise Line, inc Cost. Many times during the year 3rd and 4th passenger was more then 1/2. Example $799ea for first 2, $1099ea(or even more) for 3rd and 4th. Then things started charge about 20yrs ago where it was cheaper for 3/4 but to get a Cabin holding for 4 the base for 1/2 was more then 2 passenger capacity Cabin...

This was in 2015 (Jewel, Alaska cruise in Sept) and anyone in the additional pax berths counted - not sure why, but that was the deal at the time.  There were 4 of us (adults) and we wanted the 2BR suite, which required 5 to book.  When we found out about the KSF thing applying to adults too, we booked a phantom 5th pax and got the suite.  And of course, when our 5th pax did not show up, the tax/fees/port charges for #5 were refunded.  So we just paid the rather high fares for Pax 1 and 2 for that cruise as pax 3, 4, and our phantom 5, paid only tax/fees/port charges.

Wish I could pull that off again!!
