Ship Card Confiscated Port Miami Parking

Left the Horizon today. When exiting the parking garage there were no tickets available. System messed up?? So the attendant confiscated my ship card. The alternative was to pay the $250 max fee!!  Completely unacceptable!!

because I value (and keep/collect) my cruise cards!

 

Surely it was the attendant's responsibility

to have tickets available!

The attendant "fell down badly" - not you.

Why would you need a ticket to leave? Typically you get a ticket when you enter the garage and give it to them when you leave. This shows how long you have been there. This just makes no sense.

OP may have lost their ticket and had to surrender S&S card to prove how many days they were parked in the garage.

No tickets when entering. All the ticket machines had signs on them that they were down. No tickets available when leaving. Only 1 lane open leaving. Only 1 employee working.

Looks like complimentary parking. There’s no way to charge anyone using a ship card. 😂

Okay, you didn't lose a ticket but, most garages you need to take a ticket, gate lifts open and you enter. Am I correct that the attendant took your S&S card to verify your Cruise days? How much did you pay if the max is $250. I'd think parking in Miami is pretty expensive anyway. Really sorry to see your Cruise end like this.

6 Day cruise parking was $132. Ship card was taken for “auditing purposes”.

They couldn't take a picture of your card and accomplish the same thing?

The Port of Miami is just not of the quality standard that I have experienced at Port Everglades and at Port Canaveral when I have driven to and sailed from those ports.

UPDATE!

 

After a couple days of discussions with the Port of Miami, they are mailing me back my sail and sign card and putting out a directive to stop taking peoples cards at the parking area of the port.  Wow!!!!!
