We are Crystal Cruises refugees. First time to sail on O.   husband doesn’t drink alcohol. I only drink wine.

How does the Wine by the Bottle work?  I understand you select 7 bottles from a list of available once on board.

Is your bottle of wine(s) only available during lunch and dinner in restaurants?  If so, do you have access in Terrace cafe?

I have searched and searched to no avail for exactly how the package works

We are on a 21 day cruise and I do understand we may bring 6 bottles of wine on board to consume in the cabin.

thank you

you can bring wine onboard & if you choose to take the bottle to a dining venue  it is $25 corkage per bottle

If you do not drink it all at once it will be stored for you

The 7 bottle package you could request a bottle or more  in your cabin if you choose

Not sure if the bottles will follow you to the bars  but in the restaurants for sure

We took the 7 bottle deal on our last cruise.

You can order it at any venue (including Terrace Cafe). If you don't finish the bottle, they hold it for you and it can be retrieved at a later meal in any of the other venues. The only glitch we had was when we asked the staff of Horizons lounge for the remnants of a bottle we had consumed the night before. It was all a bit hard for them to go and retrieve it, so after 10 minutes they just brought us a couple of complimentary glasses!

We also had the last bottle delivered to our cabin.

While you are supposed to select your 7 bottles up front off a list, we found the wine waiter/sommelier was happy for us to ask him to choose something for us in each venue we were in (so you are not locked into the 7 bottles you tick off the list on the first day). We also had a night in Red Ginger when we didn't really like what the wine waiter chose for us, so he said "no problem", and brought us a fresh bottle of something else.

Now, the wine on the list is not the best value (you might want to look at the bin end list for that), but if you don't drink enough to justify the beverage package, but do like a few glasses each evening then it is probably more cost effective than ordering by the glass. 7 bottles over a 12 night cruise was about right for the two of us.

You can take as many bottles of wine on the ship as you like. When sailing around Europe, we would stop at a grocery store/department store/wine cave and purchased local wines. They are inexpensive and very good. We would take them to the dining rooms and pay the $25 corkage fee.

We are just off the March 8th Caribbean cruise on the Riviera and purchased the 7 bottle package. Although we selected up front our 7 bottles we were able to switch around our selections. We found a wonderful French chardonnay that we ordered over and over. We are red wine drinkers for the most part and found the wine to be tasty. Only the pinot noir from Oregon was less than great. We thought it was well worth while since we drink wine at lunch and dinner on the ship. There was no problem getting our new or opened bottles from any dining venue (including the pool side Waves eating location).

Also, if you are given a bottle of french sparkling wine in your cabin you can ask your steward to switch it for a red wine. One evening we ordered a Sancere in Jacques and it was $67 vs an average of about $47 for a bottle from the package.
