Hi, packfan1,

In my signature below is a multipage review of Rotterdam based on my 12/01/21 cruise. If you cannot open it, check Cruise Critic ship reviews from December 2021 for it. I loved the ship.

Smoking is allowed.

It still astonishes me that HAL would build a beautiful new ship and allow smoking in the casino. It’s going backwards.

We spent quite a  bit of time in the casino on our March sailing, and though I am sensitive to smoke, I was not bothered by it, even not aware of it.

The ship was beautiful in my opinion, and I liked what I call the "music themed art" all over the ship.   The library was my absolute favorite.   However, I really missed the wide promenade with the loungers where we could wile away an afternoon in the shade.    For that reason alone, we prefer the other classes of ship.

We have sailed on the Rotterdam 3 times since Dec. and loved every minute of those sailings. We had a Vista Suite twice and a Neptune Suite once. Crew was wonderful and food was superior. I wrote a review after the first one so you should take a look at it. Loved the Tamarind and Cannelleto specialty restaurants.

Observations: the Vista Suites are smaller than they look in the photos and the bathrooms and balconies are tiny. We have had Neptune Suites many times and the Rotterdam Neptunes on Deck 7 are much smaller than on previous ships. No separate vanity area. Bathroom was quite roomy. We didn't eat in the MDR but once and had awful service, so didn't return, preferred the specialty restaurants and Lido buffet for dinners.

I won two jackpots in the casino on the same day and I'm a smoker. The casino is small like on its sister ships. Great smoking area on Lido Deck by the Sea View Bar - covered, plenty of tables and comfy lounge furniture.

Wonderful library on board.

We are booked on the Rotterdam again for an 11-day Caribbean cruise sailing on Nov. 30th. It's the $50,000 slot tournament cruise and have a Vista Suite booked. Looking forward to it.

We were on the beautiful Rotterdam for 34 days in Dec/Jan. We are non smokers and had only walked thru the casino a number of times. Due to Covid, there was a no smoking rule in the casino the whole time we were on board. Since the big tournament had ended prior to our boarding, there were not many people in the casino.

I loved the library. Up on the Panorama deck there are some nice lounge chairs where you could enjoy an afternoon reading.

We will be back on Rotterdam Dec 11th for another 34 days. My husband uses a wheelchair so we will be in a fully accessible cabin, which I understand is great. Our previous vista suite was nice but difficult getting around in the cabin and bathroom step.

We just left the Rotterdam last Sunday. The cruise and ship were lovely. We did not eat in the main dining room but did eat in The Lido, New York Deli, The Dive In and all the specialty restaurants including the Cafe. where we had wonderful sandwiches, deserts and coffee. The casino was quite crowded and so we only went there 1 time. The shows were okay but nothing special. We did enjoy the comedian at BB Kings. There was trivia both inside and poolside, etc .Both my husband and I had a good time. All the passengers were chatty and friendly. I think everyone is happy to be traveling again. The library is very nice.  We pretty much checked every deck out ...
