lucky1ns Posted June 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2022 With flights as screwy as they are these days it seems safer to arrive a day early rather than risk missing the ship. Is there a good place to stay in Tampa? Do any of the hotels offer transportation to this ship?
njkruzer Posted June 1, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2022 4 years ago stayed at a Marriott near downtown. It was nice and nearby restaurants. They had a shuttle to the ship, which are children used. Don't recall the cost but reservation required. Made it for them as we arrived the day before they did. We had our car. Not enough room for 5 people and luggage. sailaway54321 Posted June 1, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2022 Tampa Marriott Water Street 505 Water St, Tampa, FL 33602•(813) 221-4900 On the river walk, excellent location. 12-20 minute easy walk along the waterfront to cruise terminal 2 or 3. 5-7 minute cab or uber ride.
vettesale Posted June 1, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2022 The hotels near Tampa Port are pretty safe. If you want night life, stay near Howard street (to the west of the port) but definitely not walking distance to port and will need transportation. Regarding Royal ships, they don't start back up until October.
jeh10641 Posted June 1, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2022 In Nov. 2021, we stayed at a Hampton Inn, 4817 W. Laurel St. not far from the airport (10 minutes). It is about 15 minutes by taxi or shuttle from the Port. There is an Olive Garden two-minute walk away. It was under $150/night including breakfast. Have you checked how much that hotel is now? Over $450/night. That might be where we stayed several years ago, but I honestly can't remember. I do know the streetcar stopped nearby because we used it. We also walked a lot along the water. After looking at the google satellite view, that's definitely where we stayed. PompeySailor Posted June 1, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 1, 2022 Hard Rock Casino & Hotel 6.9 miles from Port of Tampa 11min drive Rooms range from $189 - $409 obviously more expensive on Friday & Saturdays Lyft $14-$16 Taxi $18-$20 We frequent both locations regularly 😃 Just throwing out another option, it might not be close enough to port for you. Very good steak 🥩 restaurant in the hotel.
JohninDC Posted June 3, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Several hotels in the Rocky Point area used to include both airport and port shuttles - we stayed at Chase Suites and were happy. Lots of hotels near the airport (Westshore) with airport shuttles and nearby dining options. If a port shuttle is not available a taxi will run about $25+tip and Uber or Lyft should be less.
