firefly333 Posted June 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2022 Nothing has changed. The best thing is to do nothing. If you cancel him you will be refared at 200% of the current fare. If he is a no show after the cruise his fees and taxes are automatically refunded to the card that paid them. If you look back a few days someone told them when he checked in the other person cancelled and he was all upset he got refared. There have been 100s who post do nothing, say nothing. My pvp said if they ask about joe blow .. say he is coming later, you dont know. Dont say cancel.
groundloop Posted June 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2022 (edited) My daughter recently cancelled her cousin an a HAL cruise (I'm going on the assumption that all the CCL brands handle this in a similar fashion). It cost her over $400 to do the cancellation. What was maddening was that she started out as a single, added the cousin after the fact (for which a fee was charged), then went back to her original status as a single and the cruise line sucked out another huge fee. So yes, do nothing, say nothing, and just tell them at check-in that the second guest hasn't arrived yet. Worst case is that they charge the fee, best case is a little bit of money will be refunded for unused port charges. NOTE, to do that you'll need to make sure that the second guest's information is completed in the online check-in just as though they were going to cruise. Schoifmom Posted June 9, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2022 (1) Does the other person have insurance and are they cancelling for a covered reason? (2) Are you past the final payment date? (3) What are the rules for the fare type under which you booked? (4) Are you replacing this person or going solo?

BrianMD Posted June 14, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2022 I concur that it's best not to say anything in advance. I just did this with a casino offer last week. When I arrived to the port they inquired about the 2nd person and I said they could not make it. They just processed me in and I was on the ship. I know that taxes, fees and prepaid gratuities are automatically refunded. Although my offer provided $200 OBC per cabin to be split between guests I noticed my account summary on the HUB only showed my $100 portion. I went to guest services and they arranged to have the other guest's OBC applied to my S&S. I don't know if this would have been done automatically but I wanted to get it sorted out earlier rather than later so I'd have access to the funds for the entire cruise.

Only one person tips will be charged. They have the manifest and know only you boarded.
