NCL stock as it applies to O.

Someone very kindly posted that it is a good idea to get 100 NCL shares and use them on O.

Has anyone done this and how have you been able to use it on O?

For example, can you use it for Gratuities?

We have RCL stock, have used it for years, it paid for itself many times over, but no longer sail Celebrity. There were also many restrictions to applying the shares. It was hit or miss, sometimes they honoured it and sometimes not, with no apparent logic.

We have had 100 shares of NCL stock for several years and have used the OBC many times.  It can be used for anything that is charged to your on board account - gratuities, spa treatments, purchases from the boutique, etc.  As far as I know, the only thing you can't use it for is in the casino.  There are some O promotions that do not allow using the NCL stock OBC but it is clearly stated in the terms and conditions of the promotion.  For example,  the last Ultimate Sale did not allow the NCL stock OBC but you could use the AMEX cruise privilege amenities.   We have had other promotions that were the opposite.

Nice move, it is something we recommended to friends when the bottom fell out and they all bought in. Now you can go crazy from an investment standpoint and buy another 100 for your wife. Ride it up over $2600 to wherever you like and sell 100 to get your money back and maybe make some profit. You always have your 100 shares to reap the SBC benefits. So far on three trips since returning to sailing we have received $600 or 650 in Oceania funny money.  My DW loves her Graham Denison painting partially paid for by her NCLH ownership.
I have seen the price go over $30 within the past 12 months and drop back to $10+ now.  I am expecting to see it move up nicely in the coming 12 months, barring any more Covid Disasters enhanced by the CDC and Governments everywhere saving us all from ourselves. Bottom line, I bought the stock for SBP payback and not windfall gains in the stock market. Maybe I will call it funny money chasing funny money.

We love our Oceania cruises so why not let them buy our loyalty and reach the many benefits of  Oceania Club Membership, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc.  Best of luck on your investment.

Right now the danger to cruising is not so much covid....many willing to jump through all the hoops, us included...but the chaos at the airports I keep writing about. It has me and others very worried. All these bailed out airlines better step up and undo what they did during covid. Cant speak for others but our feds gave our airline a ton of money to keep it going and now it rates at the Number 1 worst airline in the world, a very dubious distinction. Yeah ok we also gave zillions of our cannuk money to central america while our healthcare is a crumbling mess...oops I think I am getting off topic and into a danger zone...so I will stop....

"There can only be one credit per shareholder reservation on any one sailing" may exclude getting one for yourself and spouse?

I believe you may be able to work around that, if you have two (or more) cabins booked, and have one shareholder 'booked' in each cabin.

As for its use...I'm not sure it can be applied to gratuities...it generally is considered "non-refundable on board credit".

BTW, it is also good on Regent Seven Seas cruise line, part of NCLH, also...

I believe that would work, although the terms also stated that if shares were held jointly there would only be one credit per sailing.

I read it differently. As long as the two (or more) staterooms are on separate reservations, and the shares that are jointly held total at least 200 (or 100 * number of rooms), each room gets the applicable amount ($50-250) of credit.

I was not trying to make it difficult, just casually joking that 100 in each name, or not, could allow for you to ride the market up over $26 and then could sell 100 shares, get your investment back and have the Shareholder credit providing you with SBC on every future NCLH company cruise, any of the 3 lines.  Just suggesting that when the stock price is as low as it is, you have some interesting options.

I was not trying to offer a work around on how you could double dip on a specific trip and earn Double the SBC .

Bad attempt at humor, sorry.

I think that could be right.
