Flying to Miami / Fort Lauderdale from North of UK

Florida has a lot of seasonal airports/destinations for us Europeans, year round they are not that interesting for air lines. Miami has been on and off for KLM direct from Amsterdam in the recent years.

We prefer, if there is no direct flight: inbound to the US, short layover in Europe or late night in say an Atlanta (Delta/KLM). Back home a change of planes after crossing the Atlantic on a redeye flight is more of a burden. Everyone or most of those on that second short morning hop across the channel of through Germany to Amsterdam is fresh and alive, ready for whatever they will do in Amsterdam, we not so much heh. :classic_biggrin: Direct flights are the best!

We have concluded Manchester to Orlando, a few nights there as we love the area having been there every year as the kids were growing up, then drive down the Turnpike and back up again. Was hoping that someone somewhere knew of a direct flight from our part of the UK, ridiculous that there isn’t one.

Leeds Bradford Airport has no nonstop service to the United States.  TUI Airways flies nonstop from the following cities to Orlando Melbourne International Airport which is just down the road from Port Canaveral: Birmingham (UK), Bristol, Doncaster/Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London–Gatwick, Manchester (UK), Newcastle upon Tyne

We live near Scarborough and always fly from Heathrow. It’s really easy to drive to Heathrow the night before our flight and stay in one of the hotels with parking. The prices are competitive and very little difference in price to parking at Manchester. We love the Renaissance hotel. Miami airport is a pain getting through immigration but after a nights stay near the airport and a good nights sleep we’re  ready for the cruise next day !  All being well we’ll be there in January.

Driving back up North on the day we get back having flown all night puts us off that. So frustrating that there’s no simpler way.
