Is Regent bypassing Grand Cayman?

A couple days ago we received notice that Regent cancelled our Grand Cayman excursion on our January Panama Canal cruise.  When I went to the website to find a substitution I discovered there were no excursions available for the port either free or choice. 

 

The port still shows on the itinerary. The Regent rep says she shows no excursions listed for the port either but to wait a few days to see what they post.

 

Does anyone know if there is something happening with Grand Cayman or if it's being removed from itineraries?  Thankx.

Ah - my issue / question exactly. I also got notice that our Grand Cayman excursion was cancelled and none are listed.  Hopefully we will get an answer soon and if the port is cancelled, there will be a substitute.

We have had notice of cancelled excursions in GeorgeTown on the Splendor December cruise, with no alternatives available.

The Cayman port schedule still shows Splendor there on December 22 and January 19, which is the same as the Regent itineraries.

Maybe an issue with the shore excursion operators?

Same here. My family hopes for a substitute - hubby and son would love to go to key west instead. I don’t mind. All I want is to embark for that cruise  December 20th in Miami…

I just received this email from regent. We can book new excursions in October 👍

Intrigued by the line: "We are currently working on creating some exciting new offerings" 

 

 

I wonder what was the issue with the old offerings? 🤔  .................... and why is it taking a month to finalise the new offerings? 🤔

We will already be on the Navigator when the new excursions are offered as we are sailing on the 12th from Montreal back to Miami and Grand Cayman is on our itinerary too.

If Cayman is experiencing a serious labor shortage (as most of the world is) I would expect the problem is due to understaffed tour operators.

Question - I know Cayman is a tender port (at least on my upcoming cruise). Does anyone know if the tender leaves us off right at a downtown area such that if we didn't book an excursion, we could simply go to town, do some exploring by foot, maybe have lunch and then head back? Or we we first have to find transport into town? TIA.

Unless the weather is bad, you will  tender near downtown. If the weather is very windy, you will tender at South Sound, which is a bus ride to downtown.
