Old Maasdam just bought by a new French cruise company - first sailing in Feb 2023

The Maasdam that had been purchased by a Greek company spent 2 years docked... But now it will be starting a new life in France. It will sail mainly from Marseille and Le Havre but first will undergo a massive multi millions euros refit. Recently acquired by Compagnie de croisières de France.

I will believe it when she sails with passengers again.

Many days on Massie. She is missed along with her always wonderful crew.

@sail7seas and her husband loved that ship. Her husband is deceased and I’m concerned for her as it has been so long since we have heard from her. She was a Hall Of Fame Cruise Critic member.

I have been concerned about Sail for some time.  I have her e-mail address and have on occasion e-mailed her with no response.  But, no bounce back of the e-mail either.

We did the Amazon cruise on her, good memories of that cruise.

I never considered the Maasdam (or Veendam) ships to be old, but instead just more seasoned and distinguished especially compared to Carnival's Fantasy Class ships like the Paradise and Elation that are still sailing!
