Shipboard credit and Princess Plus

Not exactly your question BUT I've had a lot of OBC lately so I don't need Princess Plus. Just trade minibar for coffees, use OBC for gratuities / wine / specialty dining / airport transfer back to flight (must be done asap onboard). Negates the need for Princess Plus

We have 2 cruises coming up, both with alot of shipboard credit. Has anyone used your credit to purchase Princess Plus?

Are you asking about the bundled fare (wifi, crew appreciation and Plus beverage package) or the stand-alone Plus beverage package?

If the bundled fare, no can do as PP has to be purchased in advance, you can't buy aboard.

If you mean the stand-alone beverage package, no problem - buy on embarkation day and use up your OBC..

(Curses to Princess for their naming snafus:

Medallion/MedallionClass/MedallionNet, mini-suite/suite, Plus/Plus, Premier/Premier. Did they really not have other names??).

I think that the Princess Plus $50 a day plan has to be booked and paid for before boarding.

However, as others have noted, IF You have a ton of OBC, then P+ is overkill.  You can get what you need with the credit.  Tips are based on cabin size, but are about $13 a day, per person.  Internet is (in my experience over Thanksgiving) unusable, so dont waste the money!  Drinks depend on what you want to do.  You can make tea for free, order cans of drinks (or bring some on board with you).  Alcohol, unless you are going to drink 4 or 5 drinks a day, each, may be better to just use the OBC to pay for.

Remember, most OBC expires at the end of the trip, so you can not take it home

You can not use OBC to purchase the plus fare or to upgrade a standard fare to the plus fare. The plus fare is a bundled fare that has to be purchased or upgraded before you board.

You can purchase an individual beverage package on boarding day. The plus beverage package is just under $71/pp/day and may be individually purchased.

Wifi (internet) can also be purchased on board. Believe it is $10/day for one device.

The daily crew incentive is added to your on board account each day and automatically nets against any credit balance(s).

Princess shows Princess plus costing $50 per day per person, you can’t but it on board on embarkation day?

As noted in my post, and subsequent posts, no you cannot purchase the Princess Plus bundled fare upon embarkation. It has to be purchased in advance.

Of course!! But the problem is that they might be sold out. If you use OBC to buy them beforehand but change your mind onboard, you can cancel (there's a posted cancel by date) and get that OBC returned to your account to use on a different excursion or elsewhere

No you can’t do this. Princess has three fare types: Standard ( no perks), Plus, Premier. You can’t use OBC to pay for your fare, as your full fare has to be paid before you sail.  If you want Plus, you can upgrade before sailing and charge to your credit card.

If you have a lot of OBC to use, you can purchase drink packages, buy internet or pay daily gratuities out of your OBC once on the ship.

How about wifi when they are really selling internet access. The wifi is free.

Wifi is not free .

Intranet is "free" aka included in your fare

Internet access bus WiFi is a paid service.. whether via one of the fare bundles or individually..
