Good places to play games on Crown Princess

We are cruising on Crown Princess from LA to Hawaii and back. With 10 sea days, we would

like to find someplace to play games (cards, dominoes, Farkle) with BIL and SIL. We are new to Princess and are not familiar with the nooks and crannies to do something like this. The Library looks small and we wouldn’t want to disturb others wanting peace and quiet reading. On RCL, we found a nook in the Windjammer where our knitting group met and others were playing various games. It was handy to get drinks or snacks too. And ideas?

high tables in windjammer would work, but they are using windjammer for Effy lectures from 12 to 1.

Sky Walkers is pretty empty, but the tables might not be as good for games.

Many were playing in the Horizon Court area in the far back where the Planks and Steamers used to be.

Check with GS, as they had an area set up for card players on 7. Can’t remember exactly, but did see card players at tables when I walked by.  GC maybe?

This was on the 28 day South Pacific.

Each voyage has it's own feeling. Places that would be crowded on one voyage are empty on the next. I have seen this doing b2bs to Hawaii. Here are some places to search out.

-Skywalker's on deck 18 all the way aft. Access by the far right or far left aft elevator to deck Skywalker's or take any of the four aft elevators to the highest deck and walk up the stairs. Great views. Can get rocky. Low tables and some backless seating. May have a smoking area on the starboard side.

-Adagio Lounge, deck 16 starboard aft. Quiet during most of the day. Low tables. Comfortable sofas. Not much of a view. at times there may be Hawaiian craft sessions in Adagio.

-DRs. Check the daily activity schedule. Some days a section and time for one of the DRs is designated for cards and games.

-Tables around Neptune's Reef pool. May be cooler weather the first two or three sea days before the weather turns tropical. On these days the pool area is not that crowded, but gets crowded once the weather turns hotter. You will see people playing cards and games at some tables, usually the ones furthest from the forward grill and bar area. These tables are also used by passengers for outside dining.

-Wheelhouse Bar, deck 7 mid ship. Has both high and low tables. During the day the area may be used for ukulele lesson sessions, about 90 minutes each sea day. The area is also used for talks given by the spa and shops on board.

-Club Fusion, deck 7 aft. Find a table in the rear, over by the windows. The lounge may be used for hula sessions, ballroom and line dance sessions, Zumba, trivia, bingo. It's a busy place.

-Horizon Terrace, deck 15 aft. Used for buffet dining. Limited seating and tables.

Ask the Cruise Director or Entertainment Director if one side of a dining room could be set aside for games.  On the Regal TA, the MDR on 5th floor starboard side was set aside for games until 3:30pm.  The area outside the Crown Grill was also set aside for Knitters and Natters for a few hours each day.  Neither were that busy.

Most times, the Crown Grill is available for game players. At other times, one of the dining rooms is available. Check around on the first sea day. Also keep in mind that the dining rooms are open for lunch on sea days. DW Pat and I will be on this cruise, and love to play card and other games. Looking forward to seeing you on board.

Only 1 DR is open for lunch and breakfast.

Speak with the Cruise Director, they may already have a place set aside for independent games or will arrange for one if they feel there is interest.

If nothing is planned as a set aside space Skywalkers, Club Fusion, Adiago are all good, just check the Patter to see if an event is planned.  Also, there will be times when one side of the buffet is closed and the other is serving food, an option would be to play at a table toward the back on the side not serving food.

People also play games at tables on deck. There are lots of places to play. Have a great cruise!

I'll second Shelly's recommendation for playing in the non-used side of the Horizon buffet.  We have used that location many many times.  It's relaxing to watch the ocean go by as we play Hand & Foot.

Eventually they will kick you out as the buffet gets ready to open up for dinner, but by that time it's usually time to move on anyway!

We also have 10 sea days, but on the Diamond, in less than a month.
