OBC/non-refundable for casino?

I realize this has come up before, but since I always gather up points from my NCL credit card to play, I then always cash out.  I am hearing on other sites that it can’t be used anymore in casino? Is this true for any recent cruisers?  If so I won’t count on using my points this way. Thx!

Not sure what you are asking.  If you buy obc with your points, it's refundable, no need to pay 3% surcharge to cash out - just collect at guest services at the end of the cruise.

If you are asking if you can charge cash to your card to get points, yes. The 3% fee is equal to the "cash" value of points on your card, so essentially no additional cost for a cash advance. I do it all the time, use my points for upgrades.

You can do that but the casino charges a 3% fee so you'll lose some of it to that.

You are making it way too complicated. Just get a statement credit, why bother with obc? Charge your account if you want to gamble, you'll collect additional points, a full offset to the convenience fee.

You are charged to put cash from your account onto the machine, not to cash out.

Honestly, I don’t know the answer to your question.  I know you can cash in MC points for OBC, but I don’t know if it’s refundable or non-refundable.  I assume it’s refundable, but I don’t know.  Either way, for $250 I wouldn’t want to jump through the hoops to figure it out.  Those same $250 can be a statement credit.  Charge something on the card, take the credit, and bring $250 in cash with you.  Or simply charge the $250 to the room, pay the 3%, get the 3x points from the card and all is broken even anyway.  
 

Just my thoughts, but I also agree with others that you get more value from your points saving them and using them for upgrades.

You're not understanding.  There is no need to convert your CC points to OBC.  Just take a statement credit. Then just charge any cash you want to your onboard account, the amount will be offset by the statement credit.

 If you've already "bought" obc, then your only option is to use it or get cash from guest services at the end of your cruise. To use it, you charge the amount against your onboard account and pay the 3% fee. Move the money to the machine and play or cash out as you wish.

 

If you charge $250 to your onboard account, you end up with 772 additional points, your card is charged $257.50.  With a statement credit, your 25000 credits offset the $250, and you have 772 additional points to pay for the convenience fee, plus some. If you use OBC, your account would be charged $7.50 and you would get 22 points, not enough to offset the convenience charge, you lose.

Take $250 cash for the Credit Card points, bring cash to ship, put in machine, spin-win Jackpot. 😄

 

Charging to your onboard account there will be is a 3% charge, so your $250 becomes $242.50.

 

I just transfer my points to my BAC savings or checking account, but I believe they will also mail youa check
