Just received this email from my agent & HAL.   Really disappointed.

Zaandam X414

21-Day Ultimate Caribbean – Roundtrip Ft. Lauderdale

February 3, 2024

We greatly appreciate your clients choosing Holland America Line and we know they are looking forward to their cruise.

We are writing to let you know of a change we are making to our deployment that unfortunately impacts their cruise. The 21-Day Ultimate Caribbean sailing your clients are booked on is being cancelled. We sincerely apologize for this change as we never like to disappoint our guests. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and would like to assist in reserving an alternate sailing.

We invite your clients to make a booking on any Fall 2023 – Spring 2024 voyage of 21 days or less and be re-accommodated in the same (or equivalent) stateroom category at the per diem rate paid. In addition, a $100 per person Shipboard Credit (up to $200 per stateroom) will be applied to the new booking based on the stateroom category booked.

Cancellation Protection Plan cost and Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses will be calculated based on the new booking.

Should your clients elect not to rebook, we will refund all funds paid to Holland America Line in full.

I was also surprised. I booked while on board the Volendam on a Tuesday I think, got the confirmation email on Wed and cancellation email on Thursday.  Since arriving home I think I saw the itinerary for 2025 but not sure.  I've seen something different for now.

I especially liked that that trip was in a circle - meaning you weren't backtracking to FLL 2 times for the 3 weeks (like 3 b2b cruises)  😞

I just received a few days ago, an apparent casino offer for the Zaandam's a14-day Southern Caribbean cruise, February 3, 2024 - February 17, 2024.  It appears that HAL cancelled the 21-day cruise of February 2, 2024, reduced it to a 14-day cruise, and added an Amazon cruise on February 17th.  I will call my TA tomorrow to see if this "free" interior" offer is actually available.  I like the itinerary.

There are two Princess cruises in 2024 that will visit Guadeloupe:

Emerald Princess - 2/21/24

Ruby Princess - 3/9/24

Thanks for the info!  I missed the Princess cruise in Jan. that stopped at Guadeloupe [accidentally picked up my late DH's passport instead of my own].  As another big "Death in Paradise" fan, a very big disappointment.

Yes, that's what happened, although the schedule had a blank space for a while as they figured themselves out. They should have had their replacement plans settled before they did the cancellation. The 14-day itinerary is good. A nice change from HAL's usual Caribbean offerings in the winter. (But the 21-day was better)

How long is Zaandam's Amazon cruise that follows?

Four weeks. There was always a 3-week gap in the schedule after the 3-week cruise. So instead of two 3-week cruises, there's now a 2-week and a 4-week.

Thanks for responding.  I don't think that I want to make a six-week out of the casino cruise.

Very interesting reading this thread.  In early April, while on NS, we booked the Amazon Explorer for 2025 & then last week booked the 14 day Feb 3-17, 2024.  We never realized there was a schedule glitch or whatever you want to call it.  I feel the OPs pain of trying to get anything straightened out through the Seattle office.  Our last 2 HAL cruises have had major issues with what the reps have told us & what is actually done once onboard.  Let's just hope our Zaandam cruises are all we hope they are.
