San Diego Question

Recommended Posts

We are taking a coastal cruise and one of our ports will be San Diego.  We are on Princess and was wondering how far is it from the dock to Seaport Village?  Is it walkable???

Very walkable-- maybe 10-12 minutes. There is a walkway along the water that takes you right there.

We have stayed at the Marriott twice and Seaport Village is right next door.  We have walked to where the cruise ships dock.  It's a nice walk along the water.  The USS Midway is also dry docked along your walk.  Quite an impressive sight!!!  Love Seaport Village.  Lots of shops and places to eat.  As in any city, some homeless people are there but not alot.  Love San Diego.

Midway is in the water. Not dry docked.

Walkable, but a tourist trap.

Thanks.  Aware that it is a tourist trip.  Used to live in SoCal (Irvine and Chula Vista).  Meeting a friend there so wasn't sure how long of a walk it would be from the ship.

Call it a tourist trap, but one with gorgeous views and wide, walkable paths.  We’re locals and go often to enjoy a walk.

Better restaurants will be closer to the ship - Fish Market and Brigantine.

Enjoy.

We enjoyed sitting in the upstairs area of the Brigantine.  Nice atmosphere, right on the water

I am not always a fan of the Brig, in fact I think they ruined the Coronado location in the last remodel, but they did an amazing job at Portside Pier.

Portside Pier is right next to the cruise terminal and in nice weather (a lot of the time in SD) Topsail is our favorite spot in the multi-venue complex. We can bike over from Coronado using the ferry and enjoy the atmosphere. It is doubly fun when ships are in.

A few months ago we took a Holland America trip leaving from SD.   The check in was a mess.  The line stretched almost all the way to the Brig complex, so we just enjoyed lunch waiting  outside there until things cleared out.
Nice place.

I have stayed at Solamar Hotel twice but it is about to change to be Margaritaville. There is a target at mission valley which you can take the blue line trolley to. Check the website for where the HO HO trolley stops
