Why should a cruise line read posts on CC since only a very small fraction of the cruising public even know that CC exists?

because there are many more readers than posters; CC has nearly two million registered users and over six million visitors a month. there are over fifty million posts, reviews and photos. and its reach goes far beyond that. CC is frequently cited by the media as a leading source of information on cruising: CNN, ABC, fox news, the washington post, forbes, conde nast traveler, travel+leisure, bloomberg, huff post, new york post, the new york times, the los angeles times, boston globe, miami herald, reader's digest, CNBC, us news and world report,

a cruise line would ignore those visitor numbers and access to those media outlets at its own peril.

We certainly should discuss our cruising experiences but the best way to bring something to the attention of a cruise line is the survey, not posting on CC.

perhaps.

perhaps not.

there was a recent well-documented case in which a woman's cruise (for her and her family) was canceled with no refund because of an app glitch. she reached out directly to NCL and they responded in platitudes and did nothing. it was only after she complained on cruise critic and other social media sites that they apologized and agreed to give her credit for a future cruise.

The travel professionals I know do not think highly of this place.

some "travel professionals" may not think highly of social media sites because they make their job more difficult, if only because knowledge is power. years ago, you often had to use a travel agent because they had proprietary knowledge and access to book certain things mere mortals could not, for the most part, that is no longer true. social media sites, along with online booking, have democratized travel.

what "travel professionals" don't like about social media sites are fake reviews and what they view as unsubstantiated complaints. and they probably don't like that in many cases they have had to hire employees to document and respond to posts. but they generally love the increased focus on their brands by passionate travelers and the increased business sites like cruise critic bring them.

There are over 26 Million cruise passengers.  Ask your table mates on  your next cruise how many have heard about cruise critic.  In ten cruises, I've found one.

@RocketMan275 it’s interesting the differences between personal experiences.

Honestly, have yet to have been on a cruise in which we didn’t find someone who knew of / actively using CC. In fact, our last 10 or so cruises (even though we’ve not necessarily been involved in the meet and greets), we’ve always met up with people who are familiar with cruise critic, or recognize us from CC where we occasionally will post family photos from cruises (we are a very distinct looking family with my husband being a big burly Viking type).

My TA searches CC as well as other sites for recs and reviews, as well as “heads up” on ship-specific info. He says he takes reviews with a grain of salt, but always pays attention to trends.

warmest, Amy

Do you people really NOT pack your own high quality, correct fitting, slippers?  What do you wear all day on the ship?  Shoes??  Aren't you on "vacation?"  Yikes!!

Y'all need to take lessons from this guy!😎

I honestly don't understand why this didn't conclusively end the discussion, but that's the internet for ya'.

Yep.  Same here.  I've even shared/admitted/acknowledged/confessed my CC username to folks.  Most/all have been very nice! 😎🐀

That's the clincher. I'm booking the Haven just to bring these to our dog.

Just off Joy's Haven and have the following to note:

1) The slippers were not embroidered (but just assumed they ran out and didn't think to ask).

2) The bathroom towels did not feel any different to 'regular' towels.

3) There were no 'covers' on the Haven sun deck loungers - you had to use towels to cover the padding (and only one was 'preloaded' to each lounger).

4) The little black Haven 'wallet' to hold your keycards had to be requested from the concierge.

Appreciate we are in the very fine detail here but I do appreciate for e.g. MSC's embroidered Yacht Club towels (pool and bathroom), which differentiates the experience further compared to NCL's blue pool towels and 'standard' bathroom towels.

I like the MSC prison orange pool towels.
