What is the best/easiest way for 6 people to get to Sorrento from the cruise port with luggage to Sorrento?  We are headed to Almafi Coast after cruise and need to ha ve a plan. The ship docks at 5 am. What time should I expect to get off ship?  Thanks. 🙂

I would be looking at a transport service, like the wonderful Rome in Limo, mentioned many times in a huge thread just down the board.

You could train.

The cruise line will expect you off by 9:30 at the latest. How soon they start disembarking depends on when the port clears the ship. Maybe as soon as 6:30. But why do you need to get off that early?

Not wanting to be pedantic, but Sorrento is the opposite side of the peninsula to the Amalfi Coast.  That being said, your options would be a private transfer all the way, with one of the many recommended companies mentioned on these pages or possibly, train from Civitavecchia (or private transfer) to Rome Termini station then rail to Napoli followed by rail to Sorrento (or a private transfer to Sorrento or Amalfi Coast). Or any combination of the above.

Traffic in Napoli is crazy.  We were in Sorrento last week and even this early in the season the traffic around Sorrento and over on the Amalfi Coast was sloooooooww.

A few years ago we spent week in Sorrento after a cruise that disembarked in Civitavecchia.  We took a train straight through to Naples with a stop in Rome...transferring to the Circumvesuviana for the leg to Sorrento.

We found the trip very easy, but a limo has to be easier than any other method.
