detail your successful lost luggage claim

id like first hand experience from someone who lived through it. ive seen more lost luggage stories lately and even if you have insurance, what is the practical application of that insurnace?

 

do they pay for new clothes you buy on the ship...phone charges..toiletries etc

 

do they pay for the stuff you lost..do you need receipts etc. how do you prove what you lost?

First we feel sorry for your loss of property after having a pleasure sailing.

 

We unfortunately experienced a temporary loss of luggage but after calling the terminal they helped returning it to us at home. I wish this could have happened to you.

Based on OP's opening question she/he is just concerned about lost luggage, and what to do if it happens to them.

 

I've fortunately never experienced lost luggage, so cannot answer the questions.

I think the OP is asking those who have lived though it about the process if luggage is lost.  How much is paid/reimbursed, what documentation is needed, etc.

Here are some details from the US DOT on the responsibility of airlines for lost or delayed luggage.

Typically, airlines will reimburse you for reasonable and necessary items you need immediately while away from home without your bags.
