We are staying post-cruise a few days in Reykjavik. Looking at booking FlyBus from City Center to the airport but not sure what time we should book for a 9:30am flight. Any suggestions?

Thanks

There might be very long queues in security. Airport is very busy in the morning.

From Keflavik airport web site: We kindly request that you arrive at the airport 2.5 to 3 hours before your scheduled departure time for a smooth check-in process.

Bus no later than 6:30.

Luckily the day we leave there are only 3 very small exploration ships in port so we won't be competing with 3,000 other passengers. Should make it better.

Note that quite a few people visit Iceland to make a land-based trips around the country, cruise passengers are just a small portion of tourists visiting Iceland.

I am sure, but we won't be competing with 3,000 people all at the same time to depart the airport

Even without cruise ships in the ports the airport can be very busy and long queues in security.

We just flew home from Iceland last week.  We got there 2 hours before our flight.  We did have to drop off a rental car, but it was drive up and drop off, then walk 5 minutes to the terminal, so did not add significant time.  There was no one in line in front of us to check in, no one in front of us to get thru immigration.  We made it to our gate as they were boarding.  It's just not a super efficient airport.

Plan a 45 minute ride from the city to the airport.  6:30 would be the absolute latest I'd leave, and would probably do 6:00.  There are several places to sit and get breakfast and coffee if you manage to get thru faster than expected.
