We did the Bear Fortress Center and really enjoyed it. Did anyone hear the man whistling beautiful music last night just after we left Ketchikan? He was in what I think is the smokers area outside on deck 3? 4? I know there were people with phones out and I hope they post the video here. I have a very short version from deck 9 above him looking down, but it’s on my phone and need to wait until it syncs up. Ask around. It was pretty amazing.

The raptor center is awesome! Great photos, Sue! ☺️ Next time I think we will probably go to the bear place. They were all sleeping last time were there. It was too early in the season.

Ohmygosh, yes!  We didn’t get video but we were out there right by him (wife smokes).  He whistled the Star Spangled Banner and the God Bless America then we had to leave for our dinner reservation.  He was incredible!

We took the shuttle bus into town (about 8:30 am there was no line) and just dinked around Sitka for a few hours going into all the shops before heading back to ship ship about 1:00 after have a reindeer dog and some great street tacos for lunch.  Bought some different flavors of sea salt and some kelp pickles.  It’s a really neat little town (little by population but not area…Sitka is the largest by area city in the US, over 4000 square miles including water)!

IT’s morning.

Captain just finished an update on our current situation.

After conferring with local cruise authorities it has been decided that due to the fog and icy passage way to the glacier and for safety of the ship we will not be going in the inlet to view the glacier.

He said another cruise ship ahead of us reported unsafe conditions.

We are being re-routed and will be arriving early to Juneau Alaska.
Looking out our balcony you can see the fog more dense at various times.

Also our first iceberg.

Yes, the fog was crazy.  Here was my view off the balcony around the time the captain was making the announcement at about 6:30 this morning… couldn’t even see the shoreline a couple hundred yards away…

How to be confused on a cruise ship.

My Apple Watch says one hour difference to ship time. We set our watches back like instructed by a memo. But mine keeps going back to its own time.

So our current time from the smart board.

It was done very well until the last stop.

We went to a dance presentation choreographed by native Alaskans.

Although it was great seeing their culture being passed down to subsequent generations.
However

The show was very repetitive and seem to last forever. I gave them credit for keeping their heritage alive. But needs some finishing touches.

We were one of the last guest to get back to ship. But not pier runners.

Be safe.

Did you try a duck fart?

Sadly we did not.
We wanted to walk.

And if I had a drink this early in the day I would just want a nap.

But  moreover I usually do not venture from my comfort zone of

Rum and diet coke

Amaretto Sour

or

Merlot.

But. Many a duck was farting was making the rounds.

Be safe.

Good morning.

Woke up to significant rolling on board.

I literally bounced from one wall to the other  walking to breakfast.

When looking out the window no whitecaps just maybe 2 foot waves (guessing).

Sea day

Updates to follow.

P.S. Rest in Peace Jimmy Buffett

I was honored to watch your gift of        Music ( singing) in concert.
